Craft-tastic – Make Together Poster Kit – Family Craft Night

Great for kids. Positive self image.

QUICK SUMMARY: Time-consuming (not necessarily a bad thing) with a narrow range of words to describe one's family.Although the concept of creating a fun, family "craft-tastic" poster sounds good, there were a few things we regarded as misfires. Namely:- It is difficult and very time consuming to cut out the words since you can't cut all the way across the page with a paper cutter because the words are staggered, so you would be chopping some words in half- There isn't a super vast variety in word choice. Most of the adjectives repeat numerous times.- The colors are not appealing to my wife or daughtersBy the time we finished cutting out all the words, we tired from working on the project and it took a long time afterwards to muster enough interest to finish the project by gluing the paper onto the cardboard. That reflects more about my family, though, than this product!CONCLUSION: Look carefully at cover of the product -- zoom in -- and ensure that the words you see are descriptive of what your family is like. For us, it wasn't broad enough to capture our own experience in life.

This is a good family project. It is not so overly big that it will take forever to complete. What it is, is roughly a 10"x20" finished decoupage project. You get card stock of words, a big Who We Are saying to cut out and a jar of glue and a sponge paintbrush. You also get double sided tape to attach two different pieces of cardboard to make your project. You will need a pair of scissors...probably a pair for each person that is going to work on this project. You have to cute the words out on the card stock and start gluing to the cardboard. When you have as much sayings as you want, then you glue the Who We Are design on the project. With this kit, it will give everyone scissor cutting skills and they will learn how to mix and match colors to create a colorful board.

Reviewed by my 10 year old cousin."The who we are poster kit is very fun because it is a lot like scrapbooking. A few things I would suggest to make this kit better is to give a broader spectrum of words. Also, there should be more foam applications. You will need to set the foam applicator in a hot cup of water after you are done. One thing I like about this kit is that it comes with plenty of craft glue and instead you could use this for two best friends. If you like to scrapbook then this could be just for you and your family."

My kids and I had a BLAST creating this. There were plenty of words to choose from, and the colors are vibrant and complementary. I did notice that there was a clear lack of religious words. For our family, this was a huge relief, as we are secular homeschoolers. However, I can see other families wanting a more biblical set of words.The only reason I'm dropping a star is the tape that is supposed to hold the two sides together for sturdiness. It didn't stick well, and I ended up having to hot glue the boards together instead. Also, hanging materials would be nice, but thumbtacks work in a pinch.

This is a nice little kit to make a poster. This is not a movie sized poster either so you won't need a lot of room on the wall for it. The cardboard stock is pre-printed with slogans for describing the family. It isn't hard to cut through so smaller children should be able to participate. It has the glue and sponge stick to apply the glue to glue the words on the poster. Fun little activity and helps the little ones build up their vocabulary.

This is a cute idea. Everything needed is contained. it is a fun activity for a rainy afternoon and it stimulates discussion and appreciation. that being said there is no reason you couldn't supplement it or do something similar on your own. the materials are adequate, definitely, a step above Dollar Store level though not luxurious or toop grade. The real magic is the joining of generations for the activity. The results reflect the individuality of the participants. Nice kit.

Fun family craft night project to build out a "who we are" board. Really like the concept and the kit is good.
