Loved this collection
Loved this collection.I know the 4 issue arc Legion of the Dammed had been collected before but this trade contains also the Widening Rifts arc that ended the current runs of LSH and Legionnaires. It also includes the Secret Files Blight origin and the Legionnaires issue that preceded Legion of the Damned. The stories are great and the printing material is pretty good. The art is not Coipel's best yet, he will really improve in the Legion: Lost limited series and The Legion monthly tittle, but it fits the dark tone of the story.I wish I knew if DC is planning on continuing this series with volume 2. I know Legion : Lost has already been collected in a hardcover but what about Legion : Worlds, that series was great too or the first few years of The Legion monthly.

Boy Was I Wrong!
When this came out, I thought it was the worst possible direction DC could take with the Legion. Too dark, too grim. Little did I know that a) it wasn't THAT dark; or b) that Abnett and Lanning would set the standard for cosmic superheroes comics over the next 15 years. Reading it now, I regret not trying it then. Yes, it has some darkness, but it's also very true to the spirit of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Their versions of Universo and Darkseid as Legion opponents were surprising and yielded great stories. Best of all
This series reprints an era that deserves such treatment. DnA shook up the Legion universe, drastically changing some characters and the status quo while remaining faithful to the idea of the Legion. Who would have thought we'd see the Legion clash with Ra's al Ghul? Yet it worked. Their versions of Universo and Darkseid as Legion opponents were surprising and yielded great stories. Best of all, the number of members in the Legion became truly legion. I hope that the authors' names in the title of the series will not preclude reprinting the final four issues scripted by Gail Simone.

One of the most Iconic Legion of Superhero Stories for a reason!
It's got everything you want in a good Legion book. Interpersonal drama, political intrigue, action, spectacle, heroism, and a lot of fun! You don't even have to be a long time fan of the LoSH to appreciate this magnificent story. Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning are at the top of their game.

Did not take me long to get engrossed in the storyline
At first I wasn’t sure about the artwork but I came to love it, as well as the new (to me, anyway) characters.

A great change of pace
Although I've been reading the Legion since the mid-70's, when it was still known as Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes, and thoroughly enjoyed great classics such as Earth War, the Great Darkness Saga, An Eye For An Eye and the Secret of Sensor Girl, the post Zero Hour Reboot Legion, also unfairly called the "Archie Legion", is by far my favorite. It really lived up to it's potential of giving a modern depth to many of the Legion characters. While certain classic versions of fan favorites characters such as Wildfire and Timber Wolf remain the best, many other characters found their best versions in this reboot, characters such as Triad, Umbra, Apparition, Brianiac 5, Invisible Kid and Chameleon. Other great characters were introduced, such as XS, Gates, Kinetix and Monstress. However, the tone of the stories was mostly kept lighter, showing a whimsical innocence to the future. All this changed with the arrival of Dan Abbnett and Andy Lanning (also known as DnA). The despairingly darker tone is immediately evident. The stakes seem higher. And gone is the competent but not very flashy more cartoonish art. I have to say, Oliver Coipel's art is very rough, and he is still a long way from becomming one of the biggest stars of the industry, but kudos to the editor who had the forsight of investing on him. I really hope DC continues to publish more collections of this run, because there is still a lot of great stuff to come.

Comece por aqui
Ótimo ponto de partida para quem quer começar Legião mas tem dificuldades em entrar no meio de sua longa e complicada cronologia.
