In Xanadu did Kubla Khan...
This is a superb edition of the wonderful and immortal work of poetry. The Illustrations are fantastic fit the poems tone very well, those who may be more familiar with the original Coleridge work may know the original full title of the poem was " Kubla Khan; or, A Vision in a Dream: A Fragment " , and the pop-ups and the books overall illustrations capture that mood and tone perfectly. Coleridge wrote the poem after waking up from a dream, and this book feels like it was illustrated and composed in a similar way, it's nothing like what I thought when I read the poem in a compilation of Coleridge's work years ago, but the way this book illustrates the poem is so in tune with the tone, and fits it so well that it verges on being uncanny! Trust me, I mean all of that is a compliment, it's just that I sometimes need to use certain terms when describing something as astounding as this book! I absolutely love it.

Oh Man I love this book!
I've been trying to memorize this poem for a long time. It really fires the imagination. I've been on Wikipedia and the white boys have the wrong interpretation of "Abyssinian maid on her dulcimer she played" ... that simply is an African/Black woman... that's just fact.

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan ...
Good little book that clearly shows the entire poem. Coleridge would be proud. The "pop up" is not the most imaginative in the world, but interesting.

The illustrations are dull, uninspiring
The illustrations are dull, uninspiring, and detract from the work. I wish I could say I hated it, at least then it would evoke some kind of emotion. The clarity of the art is about as good as a Sunday newspaper comic strip, the colors are charcoal and rust primarily, and worst of all, it seems like 3/4 of the work is just a collage of poor quality public domain images like pieces of a map and random National Geographic reject photos copied from microfiche or something. The majority of my 10th grade students could make something better than this.Huge disappointment. Not a single page is interesting.

I loved the book and as a used version it appeared to be in excellent condition although I suspect that one of the pop-up images was not quite complete since it seemed to be missing a part. I'm not sure since I haven't seen one of the brand new versions to compare it with. That's the only down side to buying a used copy.

Awesome picture ideas to go with poem
When I saw this book I had to buy it. I really love Kubla Khan and getting it in a book that I can read to my children is great. After I got the book I was really happy with it. Easy to read and the art is wonderful. I will look to buy other books in this similar vein.
