On the edge of my seat throughout
Wow. Just wow. I've never read a military romance before but in response to reading this I've bought more of Kaylea Cross's books. It has for me the perfect match of action/plot and romance. It's about personnel on a US Air force base in Afghanistan. Their lives are at danger every time they venture out on a mission. One of the close group has been KIA leaving his girlfriend feeling guilty as she has feelings for his friend. What makes it harder is she's an Officer and he's enlisted and it's a court martial offence to fraternise between the ranks. They are thrust in front of each other when their missions cross. It's a restrained relationship due to their situation, they can't spend time alone in case of being found but the emotion between them is obvious. The plot focuses on how the friend died and troops coming in contact with Afghan militants one of whom has a link to the dead pararescue jumper. The small parts of the book from Sadiq's POV are very well written, it feels like someone with a vendetta against the American's is speaking, the venom in his tone as he avenges his brother and praises Allah. It's a powerful story that had me on the edge of my seat, never quite sure what was going to happen, not whether they would ever get together as a couple but would they both actually live to have the chance.Onto to book 2 in the series. I can't wait.

it gives an incite into the life of all military men and women and not only the love, commoradrae
a very powerful story, lots of detail and well researched. gritty, intense, it gives an incite into the life of all military men and women and not only the love, commoradrae, training and fear that they live with serving in these countries but also the strain and worry for those they know when out on missions not knowing if they will come back alive or injured. kaylea also gives some idea of what the enemy is thinking and why they are so fanatical. it keeps you on the edge of your seat, you just want the characters to be ok and get back in one piece. it helps you get an idea of just how bad it gets on missions, the bond that forms between the different forces and ranks when fighting together and trying to keep safe. protecting the wounded above all else to get them home. this is a brilliant series, cam and dev the main couple in this story dealing with the loss of a friend and the battle against their feelings for each other while keeping themselves each other and others with them safe

Amazing start to an amazing series! How can you not love these stories and characters ?
I love this lady's style of writing, her knowledge of the military and their terms and her amazing characters! Strong fermale leads and hunky, sensitive males, what more can you ask?You will believe that Kaylea has been in these military situations as the pictures she paints are so true and detailed. This first book was a terrific story and I loved the preriphery characters as well as the main ones. I have now read all of the books so far in this series and the stories just keep getting better and better, my favourite is the third one as it is just so involved and suspensful.Another amazing series that I can certainly recommend along with the Titanium series and the Suspense series all written by Ms Cross. A great author that I will certainly be watching for in the future.

Lots of action
This has as much suspense as romance, possibly more. The romance simmers along under its own steam, while the action ramps up as the book progresses. The thing I found most interesting is that the writer includes the perspective of Afghan people, mainly the fighters, and doesn't write them off as simply brainwashed loons, but often people responding to the bitter legacy of conflict in their land, it gives a poignancy to the whole insane "War on Terror" that politicians were only too happy to wage at the cost of lives, on both sides, they don't seem to understand or care about. The military stuff feels well researched. I have no idea how accurate it is, as I know nothing about American military life, but it gives the story that little bit extra, too.

Interesting read
This, for me at least, was an interesting read. I'd never really thought of a romance set in a military base in Afghanistan. I've no idea why as it's a fairly obvious scenario. However this, as always is a good write by Kaylea Cross and without spoiling anything it reads well with good lead characters, Devon and Cam and also the supporting ones. It stops a little abruptly. It contains military action and sex.

Fantastic story
If you are looking for and action packed gritty, edge of the seat romantic suspense look no further. This book had me gripped from start to finish. Set in Bagram during the war on terror it does not hold back on the horrors of the fighting. Yet it has a balance to it as we see the story fir both sides. The main story, however, is that of Devon a medivac pilot and Cam who is a PJ, a medically trained rescuer. The romance sizzles amidst the horrors of war. This is a re read for me as a new book has just come out. I enjoyed it as much as the first time.

Another great read from this author
This book is not just about Alpha males (boy are they hot!) but also the ladies who are fighting a war along side them. From the start the action rarely lets up, and once again this author is responsible for no housework being done - once you start reading you need to carry on to find out what happens next. This is the first book in this particular series and have downloaded the next one, and made a note of when the 3rd book is likely to be released - they are that good

outstandingly awesome
Read via local elibrary. Read book 2 first but doesnt really matter although had an idea of the outcome of book 1. That didnt detract from the spine chilling action, action, action. My word, author is really talented with characters, plot etc. I have book 3 from elibrary waiting to be read next. Cant wait except then have to wait til 2014 for next one.Totally recommend this book and series and of course the author.WOW, got to recover now from all the action.Action packed book with romance.
