Response SLC2 Friedland Response Twin Spot Security Lighting Camera

I was prepared to pay for this light as it ticked all the boxes in regards to what I was looking for:Twin headed light as I wanted them to point in different directions. A security camera as a bonus especially for daylight security and a supposedly good range of motion (up to 12 meters). I was just really looking for 4-5 meters.Having cost a lot of money and also the cost of installation by an electrician, I am disappointed in the PIR sensitivity to motion, although I have set it to PIR 1 which is the most sensitive setting.The PIR does not pick up any motion just outside my garden gate which is a distance of less than 3 meters away. As soon as you enter the garden gate, it turns on. I thought the PIR head needs tilting up a little as it is pointing down too much and perhaps blocked by the wall fence, but on trying this a few times, there is still no change and on one adjustment, it even failed to pick up any motion inside the garden gate and that is a distance of less than 2 meters away from the light!! What I wanted was to pick up any motion as soon as someone approaches my garden fence and gate as a deterrent, but this light does not do the job for me.The trouble with these things is that you won't know until it is installed and then unless you have some electrical skills yourself, you have to pay again to have it uninstalled. If I were in a position to do that, this item would go straight back for a replacement or exchange with no hesitation. This is a real shame as it does seem to be a good make and a good sturdy security light, but for me, it has unfortunately failed to meet its primary purpose.I hope this is useful to potential purchasers.

Bought this item for the economic light source plus the added security aspect , the lighting side of it is excellent , not so happy with the camera aspect though as whilst the picture and sound quality are okay the swivel angle is not that good, it has limited swivel thus not capturing a wide enough field when mounted up high, trouble being if you mount it too low it then becomes easy for an intruder to just move it out of range, the other downside was that it comes with a small SD card 2G which is okay but would be better with a bigger card supplied or at least the option of a bigger card if required , the other downside is that if your electric goes down for any reason you lose all your settings and will have to reset it back but all in all not a bad buy for the money and would recommend if you don't wish to spend loads on Hi-Tec security systems .

Only up for a few days but some first thoughts.Small LCD panel which shows settings is underneath. To view this when the light is up you need clear access under the light. Mine is over a small ledge which makes things very difficult.To remove the SD card you can turn the unit off or fiddle with the settings. As the light keeps it's settings for 30 mins without power I use that option.Daytime video and sound recording is surprisingly good but results very grainy and not much use at night.Unit seems well made but there is no gasket on the little hatch for access to the SD card so how weatherproof it is remains to be seen.You can turn the warning sound off easily.Pleased with unit so far ......

I was a little sceptical when I ordered this security cam as there is a lot of junk out there. Trusted the name Friedland and was right to do so. This unit works a treat and the video quality is superb, even at night. Set it up correctly and it will record everything. I pick up prowling foxes at night when 20 meters away and you can see if the postman has shaved that morning (if that's what you want to see!). When couriers say they knocked and nobody was in, it is easy to prove they just chucked the parcel over the fence!Recommended.UPDATE. My camera suddenly stopped working for no reason. Called the Friedland help line and they said this was a very rare thing as the unit operates straight off the domestic mains. No problem. I didn't even have to go through Amazon for an exchange. They let me Freepost it back to them and a new one arrived by return. That's service! Still love this machine.UPDATE. Oh well...the replacement unit has now failed in the same way. Fine when setting the unit using the AA batteries but as soon as I connect back to the mains it goes dead. Current is fine right up to the unit so has to be a problem inside. Fed up, cutting my losses and now getting a GuardCam LED unit.

So far it is very good. Easy to set up but replaced card with 16 gig card as i do not feel that 2 gig is adequate. Have it in one month now and no problems.Video picture is clear and sound is good too.Am happy with purchase so far. If it lasts the test of time I will upgrade it to 5 stars.

Seems good quality bit if kit. I installed this at the back door and seems to capture anything that moves. A few adjustments and it was able to ignore the wind moving the bushes. The images are quite good. They are good enough to get someone identified by the police, arrested and convicted if they broke into your house - Now that would be a result.

The installation of this product is simple to do,but if you have a power cut it means taking it off the wall to reset it all again.that is the reason for the 3 star rating.

Field of vision is severely limited and the recording on disk is in only 20 seconds bites. This is impractical and wastes considerable time in playing back. Am considering alternatives to achieve my aim of catching my neighbour cutting my shrub.
