Worthy upgrade!
Nightwatch: Blood and Bone is not just an add-on to the original Nightwatch, it is essentially a "2nd" edition. Slightly revised core rule set with a heavier revised Campaign ruleset. Both still continue in the "Todoroff" very simple dice mechanics that give you room to adapt nearly any given situation into a very narrative game environment. The new book even has a a very well thought out narrative Campaign to help get players up and running. Within the new missions structure, you will now not need a ton of models to make a compelling game session. Blood and Bones is definitely worth the purchase that does more than just adds on to the OG Nightwatch.

Dark Fantasy Co-Op Wargame
Nightwatch: Blood and Bone is a cooperative dark fantasy miniatures wargame where 1-4 players take control of a singular hunter each and embark on a campaign in an evening.Short hunts build piece by piece as the players pursue their quarry through a series of skirmishes leading to an epic showdown. Game plays quickly on a 3’ by 3’ table with around 48 miniatures needed for the game.

great rules
book arrived in good condition and on time. Reading this book is getting me excited to get some miniatures on the table. This feels kinda like diablo on the tabletop. different classes of characters with special abilities and attacks. each character gets a “feat” they can attempt once or twice per game where they can basically go supernova on any nearby monsters…love it. reminds me of playing golden axe as a kid.

high speed, low drag gaming!
So I'm an old-school RPG gamer with many hours spent with my junior-high gaming buddies and stacks of gaming rule and tables, arguing over the casting time required for "Mandragora Enchantment", or whether Zamphir the Cleric can bludgeon a Water Weird with a +2 Mace of Fire, or whatever. No problem, had plenty of time in those days (didn't do my grades any favors but that's another story). Now, fast forward 40 years (yes, I said "Old School" gamer!) with a job, wife, and kids. Still love gaming and with a bit more cash can afford to dole out for the more recent glam rule-sets: Gloomhaven, Descent, Shadows of Brimstone etc.. and they look great on my shelf. But while I would love to decipher the mysteries of yet another complicated rule set, my wife has no interest in monster cards, trap levels, or stun modifiers, she just wants me to get oil changed and rake the yard. Which means when I get the chance for gaming night with the lads, I want to get out on the gameboard and pound some goblin skull, not fuss around with endless tables and rulesets. And that's where "Nightwatch: Blood and Bone" comes in: Stream-lined ruleset with simple-yet-satisfying mechanics, designed to get you, your buds, and your minis on the board ASAP and confronting the vermin hordes. Our gaming group has been playing Nightwatch regularly now for over a year. Average tutorial time for new players is typically less than 10 minutes, with a few rounds of combat needed to demonstrate the finer points. We recently added a new player who had never gamed table-top before, and in no time his Alchemist was tossing grenades and blowing spider-guts to kingdom come... very satisfying for all. Nightwatch is the perfect rule-set for the occasional gamer like myself, as well as dedicated monster slayers who doubtless meet on a more regular basis. Meanwhile I got a kid trying to complete an eagle project and a wife who wants me to be build a BBQ pit this weekend. Someday I'll have time to figure out Gloomhaven but for now, Nightwatch: Blood and Bone satisfies the gaming urge quite nicely. Highly recommended. For Nightwatch Veterans: If you enjoyed the original game you definitely need this updated ruleset. It includes some really cool-yet-simple tweaks that allows a more nuanced approach to attack/ defend. Cool new gambits, character perks, new weapons, and simplified rules for Mancers are also well-worth the investment. Your fellow monster-hunters will definitely thank you.

Great Upgrade!
"Nightwatch" is already a great Tabletop Wargame for those who want the fun and adventure of D&D combined w/ tactical wargaming, but don't want to spend hours upon hours buried in minutiae. The system is easy to learn and, as such, you and your friends can be battling monsters in no time (which is what this is all about anyway)."Blood and Bone" add some very interesting and cool wrinkles to the mix, without spoiling the "beer and pretzels" simplicity of the system. The new system adds a lot without over-complicating things. I was lucky enough to be a Playtester and I hope we did a good job of ironing out the wrinkles. If you're looking for a fun, easy-to-learn system that'll have you up-and-playing in no time (either as a player or to take up the task of GM), look no further than "Nightwatch: Blood and Bone." Highly recommended

Quick to Learn and Play, Straight to the Fun
Great simple game system for narrative campaigns! Bought to host some games with my boys (12 and 106). Love that I can also play a PC as well due to the straight forward enemy AI. The boys play MESBG, Warhammer, and SW Legion so complicated rules are no issue, but loved how straightforward the gameplay is. Also loved creating their own characters and planning out their builds. Only have played 2 games so far, but they (and I) are chomping at the bit to play the next one!

Wargame Rules redefined
Adds more depth to the original rules, updates to the four main types of hero, Blades, Trackers, Mancers and Apothocaries, now each type has two options.Expanded rules for full co-operative play with new pieces of equipment, weapons, potions, and spells.Being miniature agnostic you can use any fantasy or early, mid or late medivial figures, the rule of cool applies, pick a miniature that you like the look off and then match it to the type of character you want!

Good first impression - if it weren't for the illustrations.
Recieved my copy today and was disappointed to see it used 'AI' generated images as basis for some illustrations. I usually don't support this method and would at least have liked to know about this before ordering. (The cover looks rather low-res - but that was to be expected from Amazon print on demand so this was not influencing my rating.)The actual content und rules make a much better impression and read like a worthy addition to this genre of games.
