These were the perfect length to replace screws on a custom-made gate but I'm glad that star-drive has been gradually phasing out square-drive screws. Square-drive, although an improvement over the old Phillips heads, still slip enough to strip out from time to time.

You might be thinking, "a screw is just a screw", but if you care about your work you might want to look a little more closely at this product category. In recent years the market for fasteners has been flooded by very low-quality imports: soft metal, dull points, shallow threads. These screws are just the opposite: beautifully finished stainless, sharp points that don't split hardwoods, and crisp, deep threads that will hold.The cost of fasteners is a small fraction of the materials cost of most projects. I'm happy to pay whatever for high quality fasteners, and enjoy the rewards of easy installation, a secure bond, and an attractive result.
