The Hype is Real
The hype is real. I ordered my RT700 directly from RecTec to save on shipping costs, and purchased the bundle that came with a premium cover, 200# of pellets, and a t-shirt. I ordered in mid-March and this beast was delivered by March 28th via UPS and was handled with clear care in transit. The assembly was pretty easy (watch the RT guys video once through for some clarity; the nuts and bolts aren't marked). It took me and my partner about 45 minutes from start to finish. I would encourage you to assemble as close to the final destination as possible; we did not, and lifting this thing up even a small flight of stairs was a serious task. Most importantly, this thing cooks. I've done roughly 5-6 cooks this past month, and each time I got the best results I've gotten in my years of BBQing. No muss, no fuss. The pellets have a good flavor to them, and they burn at about 1lb/hr, unless you're in colder weather, which takes a bit more. The stainless steel interior makes a WORLD of difference in cleaning up. But the thing I love most about the Bull is the WiFi control via the RT app. It was easy to set up; super simple to use; and saves me a ton of cook stress in checking to make sure all is well. I've done a cook while at work and one while asleep, and I could see/control both without being in front of the smoker.People say this thing doesn't put out that much smoke, but I beg to differ: mine makes plenty. I'm as impressed by this machine as I'd hoped to be, and I am fully converted to RecTec. I intended to pick up the Bullseye later this summer, and add to the arsenal. It should also be noted that there's a few really great online communities of diehard RT owners, and that's a really cool bonus to joining the "club". If you're hesitant based on anything that isn't the price tag: don't be. Join the RT family and connect with us on Facebook to share in the excitement!

Best grill in it's price range.
First thing to know, this grill is 300 bucks cheaper if you buy it direct from rec tec..... Which is what I did. I have had this grill for just over a month and love it. I have never smoked anything in my life because it was never worth the hassle of chasing the temperature across several hours to ensure the final product was what I wanted. Luckily, being in Texas, I had lots of friends that didn't mind all that work and time.Once I discovered pellet grills, and saw how easy they were to operate with no need for constant attention , I knew I had to have one. I had a price point in mind and did months of research. The RT 700 really is the highest quality grill in its range, and it's not even close. The unit looks and feels as solid as it should, and with all stainless steel components and body, I know it will last. The customer service is where the company hangs their hat, but I have yet to partake of it, since that unit has performed flawlessly. I mean every single time I have used it.So I have gone from never smoking anything to having smoked a full brisket, pork butt, pork loin, brats, steaks, whole chickens, chicken breasts, vegetables, salmon, beans, corn.... Even eggs for smoked deviled eggs.... Which were beyond awesome.Everything has turned out perfectly. The WiFi and app mean I can control the cook from my phone. On my longest cook... The brisket.... It was 17 hours. I never had to open the lid one time. I went to sleep, I went to work, and was able to know instantly what temperature the grill was running, how far it was from my set point, and with the two meat thermometers exactly how close to ready the meat was.Honestly, it's barbecue cheating. I shouldn't be this good at smoking anything with absolutely no experience, but the rec tec makes it so easy. The only knock I have which would amount to a quarter of a star, maybe, is that the temperature alarms in the app will not activate my phone ring tones. In other words, if want an alarm for if the grill goes more than 10 degrees below my set point, or when the meat probes hit a certain temperature, the alarm only rings if my phone is unlocked, I have the app not only open, but I am looking at it. It can't even be in the background. If I have the app open and I am looking at it, I wouldn't need an alarm. It would be much more useful for it to be able to activate the full ring tone of my phone to get my attention if I am not looking at it. But really that's pretty nit picky.Bottom line is, I love it.***update***So Rec Tec updated the app in the last couple of weeks and repaired the problems with the alarms not signaling the phone while tnt phone is locked and idle. So it is again, flawless. I am almost 18 months with it, and it is still crushing it. I have smoked cobblers on it, bacon, a whole prime rib.... The best thing I have ever eaten, by the way.... Jalapeno poppers, pizza, burgers, dogs, pies.... You name it. It is a great grill.

Great grill, heavy duty components!
Having come from a Treager to the Rect-Tec RT 700, I can tell you that this grill is built much more solid than the Treager, holds the temperature better, and has better stainless steel components. It's built like a tank and everything just feels more beefy. The drip pan and heat baffle feel twice as heavy as Treager grills. It also looks a lot better (bonus). I have cooked a number of things: pork bellies, ribs, chicken, pork roasts, turkey, vegetables, lamb and everything has come out fabulous. When you factor in all the upgrades you'd have to buy from Treager (upgraded stainless components, PID controller, cover, and prep shelf) plus the included pellets, and sales tax you would end up spending more to go with Treager in the end. This is a great package when you factor in all that you get and freight shipping is included in the price. It's worth the spend over a Treager IMO and I'm glad I upgraded to the Rec-Tec.
