Herding Cats: A Sarah's Scribbles Collection

Sarah Anderson Nails it Yet Again
I don’t know what to say other than there were many snorts, several giggles and a couple of laughs- as per usual for Sarah’s work! I’ve been following her since she started on Tumblr around 2014- to see her come out with so many compilations of her comics in book form, as well as create an entirely different comic (it’s called Fangs you should read it) that is equally popular, has been super awesome.

Wholesome fun
The first 75% of this book is what you’d expect. Silly comics, all funny, all charming. I loved all of that. If you liked Oddball, you’ll love this. The last 25% is called “Making Stuff in the Modern Era: A Guide for the Young Creative”. It’s a clarion call to the creative voices waiting to be heard, in danger of being silenced. It’s more a mix of comics and text, and honestly, I liked that part a lot better. She talks about the growth of the Internet from something where people went to have fun, to something where, more and more, people go to induce cruelty. Yes, she points out that for some groups, this is not a new thing. She talks about the artist's inner critic and how our judgment of what is good is always just one step ahead of our current skill level. She’s not wrong. She just puts an interesting, and in the end wholesome, encouraging, and upbeat.

Very funny
~4 StarsI have only just recently started expanding my comedy comics collection, and I've read a bit of the Sarah Scribbles stuff online, so picked this up when it was on sale. Not realizing that it was the third and final book in the set, of course. Thankfully none of it necessarily has to go in order, so not too big of a deal. I could tell it was her more recent work, though, more polished, than some of her earlier stuff. The protag here is an introvert and a cat lover, and this is mainly comedic strips featuring the struggles regarding the everyday life, only she's also a famous cartoonist. It's all very fun, really. Very relate-able and funny.About a quarter of the book, at the end, features some advice from a cartoonist to potential artists out there. It's actually a really sweet bit of the book, with heartfelt advice and encouragement. I definitely recommend picking this up, or gifting this book in particular, to the artistically inclined people out there.

I love it
Thought it's gonna be about cats, it is, but then she told me to go beat up my fear and pick up the pencil to draw.

A little 2020 review about this book
This book is really well done, each character Sarah creates haves a roll, like her boyfriend, no matter what he's always supportive, the real villain here is Sarah herself (you probably figured that out by now) I'll explain why. In the comics she can't control her anxiety and doesn't have the power to get of the.internet, this problems affects her social life where she cannot socialize because she's too afraid of what other people might think about her.Why 4 stars though?Let me put it in a simple way: not enough pages (really, that's the problem?) the problem is that I really like comic books, but I feel like people never give them enough pages to readTo sum it all up: great book, good comedy, needs more pagesP.D: would recommend this book for 11+ people

wasn't what i expected
Although some would like it I am not one of them - most of what were cartoon drawings went beyond me.

Perfect
I’m a creative and I definitely love her take on life as it is incredibly relatable no matter who you are. It’s mostly about artists and introverts; and even though I’m an extroverted artist, I most definitely still understand the perspective LOL! I can’t wait for more of her works ❤️

Great comics, great artist, excellent material.
Sheer excellence. I've bought every comic book Sarah Andersen has made and have followed her on media platforms for years. I am biased. Herding Cats has a lot of references to 2016 and 2017, but the new material is as wonderful as always and covers a good portion of the book. I shared this with my household who don't keep up with the weekly comics but have read the other sarah andersen comic books that I have. It was a joy to see them giggle as they read through the book and found their own favorite comic. Sarah Andersen's work is a wonderful depiction of the emotions, trials, and joys that young adults of this millennium feel: exploring liberal problems with humor and graceful dishevelment. I recommend it to anyone who needs to smile.
