There I was, wading through chest deep water for hundreds of feet and all of a sudden I tripped and fell. I threw this map case trying to catch myself, and while trying to not drown I panicked about getting my papers wet. Alas, this perfect case protected my papers while being completely submerged. So while worrying about drowning, I didn’t have to worry about my papers getting destroyed. This thing is durable and effective.

Bought mine over 5 years ago and have used it on multiple multi-day river canoe trips. It has been in the water and mud multiple times and has been stepped on and abused and still is completely waterproof. The material is starting to get a little worn, but still usable. I’m getting another one, because I’m planning another series of long canoe trips and I’ve abused this one long enough.Roll down top like a dry bag is definitely the way to go. It is much more reliable than a waterproof zipper. See-through material on both sides, gives you twice as much area of exposed map. There are no cons to this product.

Has a roll down top, as others have noted, instead of a zipper lock. Not great for water trips, might be OK for hiking

Not waterproof. Uses a fold top like a dry bag, rather then the waterproof zipper seal used by competitors cases. This allows water to leak in to wet your maps.
