Mine quit after 3 years 2 month. Same battery entire time.Auto shutoff sometimes is annoying turning off just when you go to use it.

It has all the features you need as cook:1. Reads temperture2. Backlit screen3. Digital Calibration4. Automatic shutdown when not in use5. Retractable sensing armHowever, out of the features that it promises but doesn't deliver fully on1. Magenetic - Extremely weak magnet, will slide off of a fridge door with the slightest suggestion of gravity2. Waterproof - Stood up to handwashing with soap and water but was damaged by water after the 6-month markMy main reason for writing this review is that it isn't truly waterproof, which is the biggest sell for an electric themometer. It's great for the price point as the only other product that comes close to its features has been the expensive Lavatool thermometer which I don't own and am not willing to shell out for but note that it probably won't last. Still frustrated to have this otherwise passable thermometer break down in 6 months for a feature it's supposed to have.

I've been on a "quest" for a thermometer to use while grilling that didn't take forever to read the temperature and which could be inserted without burning my hands - this is it. Two months after purchase the seller followed up to make sure I was happy and, as it happened, the thermometer had stopped working. I don't fault them as it seems well constructed - just one of those things that can happen with electronics. They promptly shipped me a replacement which I just used with great results. Amazing that a seller of such an inexpensive product can provide that level of service!

Works great! It’s magnetic so it’s usually on my fridge and when I use it on the grill, it sticks to the side so I don’t have to worry about it falling on the ground and getting dirty. The only thing I don’t like about this is it doesn’t have a temperature guide. I am starting to remember what temperatures different meats are cooked at but it would be nice to have a chart to reference. This replaced one that did have a temperature chart but it wasn’t waterproof like this one. No issues with water so far!

I am THRILLED with the speed and accuracy (and waterproof-ness) of this thermometer. I LOVE the ability to recalibrate it too - it works like a charm.I bought it to use when doing water changes in my fish tanks. (You’re supposed to match the temp of the tank to the temp of the new water.) Other thermometers are SO slow, or off by 1.5* or more! Not so good for the fishies. I calibrated the temp, and can check both tanks and the tap temp, and be done in seconds instead of minutes.... and it’s safe in/around/slashes by water = perfect.I’m sure it’s great for meat too - I’ll be buying a separate one for food though ;)

My husband has a terrible habit of leaving meat thermometers out in the rain by the grill. I don't know why and I don't ask because I'm usually doing a million other things though you'd think I'd learn by now! This one, finally, is water resistant and has survived two rainfalls, three snowfalls, and, like the Energizer bunny, is still banging the drum to safe food temps. I'm a dietitian so I'm pretty fussy about that stuff and this thermometer is perfect and I can even see it without my glasses when I use it in the house so the large display wins it for me, too!

I purchased this thermometer after having too many others ruined by dropping them into hot liquid. This one has not been dropped into hot liquid yet. With the way that it is designed it is so much easier to grip I'm not sure it will. I use the thermometer to pasteurize milk twice a day. It is easy to read and easy to operate-no more pushing tiny buttons to turn it on and off like the others I have used. It does have an automatic shut off if you don't close it. I just pushed buttons until it started up again. Now I just close it each time.

I work in a restaurant and when it comes time for us to do our temp(ature) logs, it is often hard to find a thermometer lying around. I purchased this one on advice from several of my colleagues and was impressed at how fast I was able to get a reading. This thermometer gives me a reading in about 3-4 seconds rather than the 10-15 seconds our thermometers at my job gives us. I also bought it cause I was tired of having to search for a meter and/or hassle my colleagues for a meter (lol?). Overall, I'm happy I purchased this one.
