Welcome to the Jungle, Revised Edition: Facing Bipolar Without Freaking Out

If you're going to buy your recently diagnosed friend, son, daughter, nephew one book, but this one
I've read a lot of books about bipolar disorder, including memoirs, medical tomes and how to books. I wish I'd found Welcome to the Jungle years ago. Written with humor, insight and--miraculously--snappy, intelligent prose, this book is that rare book about a scary topic that is never scary, and that is even hopeful. I wanted to hang with Hilary Smith a lot longer than her books' pages allowed. The perfect (only) choice for the newly diagnosed young adult, who might just feel after reading this that they are no longer alone, and that being bipolar actually puts them in some excellent company.

Great book for young people.
The first thing my DD did with this book was throw it across the room. She did eventually pick it up, flipped through it and read some random parts. What she found was relatable writing. She is now reading it cover to cover. I would definitely recommend this book for newly diagnosed teens or young adults.

Excellent book and fun to read
I'm occasionally looking for new books about bipolar. Older books tend to be too technical with medical jargon. This book was easily digestive and fun to read. It made bipolar disorder more relatable to the average person, if there is such a thing. Nice work, Hilary!

Weirdly Printed Version
I have not read the book yet, since I got it today. The book itself does not look like an original copy. The front cover has a strange texture and the pages inside have a shadowy effect as if they were copied and then printed. I am not sure why the book looks like this, but it makes me feel like I got a black market copy of an original. Some of the words inside are smudged. If this is a copy from the publisher then they should consider a new printer because the quality is terrible.

Recommended for those that don't take themselves too seriously.
Very informative. Doesn't offer answers for everything but nothing really can. This book seems like more of a guide that points you in helpful directions. I like the wit and playful tone of the book. It does not make light of the subject, but instead let's you know the authors can relate. I found the information very helpful and the book helped to settle my fears of not being ok.

This book is like the story of my life
After being Bipolar for probably 40 years without knowing it, I was finally diagnosed correctly! This book is like the story of my life. I enjoyed the numerous aspects, but sometimes it made me cry. The tears were because of my own mistakes and experiences. It really helped me face my diagnosis. The author did an excellent job writing the book.

Great book
Great book, funny and encouraging as well as educating readers on realistic, helpful ways to survive with bipolar, ways that we will never learn from in a psychiatrists office or in school
