For the cost and its performance, this is a fantastic stabilizer. I’ve been using it for a lot of FSL projects, and washing it away is very easy. It can clump a little while washing if you have a large surface area you’re rinsing, but it’s a minor thing. One big hang up is the smell. It has a dense smell to it but it at least it’s not overpowering.

My most frequent use of water soluble stabilizers is to use it for machine embroidery for Free Standing Lace FSL designs. These designs are created so that once you use water to remove the stabilizer, the thread should remain and not unravel. FSL designs put some strain on the stabilizer due to the nature of the design. This stabilizer, using a single layer, did not hold up to the FSL design and it simply cut the design out, free of the surrounding stabilizer, which means the rest of the stitching couldn’t be performed by the machine. To make it worse, since it was free of the surrounding stabilizer, it got sucked down into the throat plate of the machine. I had to remove the throat plate to get the little piece of the design free of my machine. I’m really glad that I hadn’t walked away from the machine while it was stitching! I will never use this stabilizer again!
