Although 20 years since this wonderfully written book was published, it still holds a fascination that is well worth reading many times over. Sarah is especially interesting as she rather stays in the background, but is clearly an equal partner in the garden and wins my praise for her forthright matter-of-fact approach to everything she tackles! Their early entry into the organic world of gardening and living simpler holds up to the test of time and they should be credited with getting the ball rolling for all of us who are drawn to all that is organic now! Love the blurry photos of children and the family always in a rush...what zest for life they all have. A quick glimpse and they are off in a cloud-of-dust! Just as these 20 years have rocketed past...read this wonderful book...wish we could have had access to the tv show...there are just a few things available on YouTube and worth a watch, too!

Look for the video series by the same name and watch that. This book adds to it as well as having recipes in it for really simple foods. Both will help you with your vegetable gardening in ways you don’t expect.

I enjoy reading Monty Don, his explanations are so easy to comprehend even for the beginning gardener. I feel like he’s talking directly to me.

This book was beautifully written, full of helpful information, and inspiring. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading their garden musings and how easily they use their produce in the kitchen.

Thank you so much, I love watching there programs they have so much to teach. I even got my children watching and reading this man.

I really enjoyed the book, especially after watching the gardening shows on television. It was inspiring.

The book itself is in excellent condition with no marks or damage. The only problem I have with it is the smell. There is a very definite and strong odour to it of mustiness. I am keeping the book outside during the day to try to remove the smell.It did arrive very quickly which was great.

I loved the TV series but was never able to find it on dvd. This is the next best thing. Big hardback book with lovely photos and plenty of great gardening advice. I would love to have their kitchen and am extremely envious of it.

This starts early in Monty's career and gives great advice.
