When the wave amplitude is constant (as shown in the figure), the pulse oximeter is optimized and readings can be taken.• Perfusion IndexThe Perfusion Index (PI) measures the strength of your pulse. The higher the PI number, the stronger your pulse. If your PI is less than 0.2%, your hands may be too cold or improperly positioned in the pulse oximeter.
