The picture in my review is of the handwritten note included in the box. I even looked at this under a special microscope used by printers to see if it was just an awesome font that was used. They took the time to write this by hand, so you know that they took the same type of care in making these shelves. There was a slight smell to the shelves when I first took them out of the box. This is to be expected with any wood product that has been stained/treated and then contained in a sealed box for any period. I went to assemble the shelves, and they were exactly as expected and no different than any others in this regard. The brackets are of high-quality metal, and the wood is exceptional. These shelves look awesome no matter where you put them! I only wish that I had more walls to get more of them.Additionally, the fact that these shelves are made from wood that used to be something else, most likely a barn, makes these shelves even better! Knowing that more trees didn't have to die. these are oak planks that were reclaimed from korean homes. they come with black iron brackets and they look amazing. the quality of these hand made shelves is just amazing and looks great on the wall.these come with an hand written note and are very easy to assemble and hang up. wonderful purchase! These reclaimed wood shelves come straight from Korea and are probably taken from some older buildings or homes that were having new construction done. The wood is solid quality and a nice dark color. Highly recommend for those wanting a more natural look to display with.

I was hesitant about ordering these shelves, but when they arrived I was impressed about their quality. I love the industrial raw type of style in my home and these perfectly matched my decor. When the box arrived the first thing that I noticed was the weight, it felt like there were a couple of cement bricks inside since they are heavy, but that is what I like since oak is a very dense wood. They came wrapped in plastic to protect from scuffing and the iron brackets were also wrapped and secured to the shelves. The grain is large further confirming that they are indeed made from oak and they included a hand written note thanking for the purchase as well as a second card to go to a you tube video for installation. The only negatives I could find is more of a personal preference and not worth deducting a star is that they came stained with a reddish stain and I think they would look better if they were raw or had a polyurethane sealant so they look more natural. The other negative is the price is very expensive, but reclaimed wood is a finite resource unlike new wood and I also imagine shipping from Korea is added into the price, so it is likely in the market rate price point for this type of product. As far as installation, you will need a drill for drywall anchors but as soon as that is done it took about 10 minutes to install both shelves.
