Super Fine Sand
Very fine white sand and very easy to clean. Only needed to rinse once or twice to get clean, unlike other sand I've used, when I needed to use more water than an Olympic sized pool holds, to clean. My Mbuna love it which is the important thing. Good value for money. Great sand go ahead and buy it, you won't be disappointed 😃👍

Pleasing colour, harder to set up than “gravel substrate”
My second fish tank set up. This was for prawns and loaches. Obeyed the instructions and washed it thoroughly ( about 8 times), could not get it to clear, put it in the tank, filled with water, very cloudy. Eventually my carbon filtered pump cleared the water with the addition of a water treatment, now it looks fine.

Lovely sand. Fish love it

Nice sand
Really like this sand and it also seems to be a little heavier than your standard sand so doesn't cloud up the tank so much once in. That said it was very dirty so needs a lot of cleaning

Very nice smooth sand
I really like this sand and bought it for a new set up I am starting. It is not cheap, but it will last years. I got 20kgs or the light River for my 155 L cube, which was just about enough. I washed one bag at a time in a bucket, draining and rinsing about 6 times then added it to the tank. There was some clouding left, but it only lasted a day or so. The pictures above are when I added it and about 14 hours later. The grains are not too fine, and seem to have no sharp edges which your bottom dwellers will like. Obviously there are no nutrients for plants, but you can solve that with root tabs for the plants that need it, or just place it over a sub soil. I use a large diameter siphon vac. And the sand can be pulled into the tube, but it is easy to drop it back out, or, even if it reaches the bucket you can just add it back in.

Needs work
Having kept fish for 20 years. I’ve used light coloured sand before with cichlids. I prefer aquatic soil these days because I have planted aquariums at the moment, but I’ve never come across anything that’s need as much attention as this stuff does. My kids want to set up a tank for an axolotl, so I thought I’d give this a try. With all my substrates before, i usually put it in a bucket and rinse it 5 times before I put it in the tank. I did with this, and the water was still very cloudy. 50% water changes for a week, everyday and it’s nearly normal. It will leave a grey film on the side of your tank, so it’s best clean it off you start emptying the water, but I do like the greyish look though, and just today, I’ve started adding some live plants and decorations, It’ll be 2 or 3 more weeks of cycling, and before we add an axolotl.
