Being able to see all the different species visiting our feeders,especially when we are not home

I have another brand of "smart" bird feeder that works really well and I like a lot. I wanted another feeder, and found this and decided to try it, too. It is less expensive than my other feeder, so I did not expect it to have all the same features. The problem is, the missing features really detract from this feeder's value.First of all, the small solar panel is fixed onto the roof. This makes it convenient and easier to setup than one with a separate solar panel, but it also means that the feeder needs to be placed where the roof gets enough direct sunlight to keep the battery charged. The tree where I wanted to put it shades the panel too much so I had to move it. Second, it lacks an external Wi-Fi antenna. This won't be a problem if you place it close to your house, but I was trying to put it about 100 feet away, near my existing smart feeder. That feeder works just fine, but this one has spotty reception. Oh, as with most all of these smart feeders, make sure your Wi-Fi supports 2.4Ghz because this won't work on the 5Ghz frequency. My other feeder has a great feature where it plays an alarm tone when it detects a "robber", such as a squirrel or racoon. It is very efficient at keeping those critters out of the feeder. This one has no such feature, and on top of that, its app is just not very good. It's usable, but compared to the other feeder's app, it's very rudimentary.Adding up all of these shortcomings, and this feeder is not such a good value. I'll still use it, but I'd recommend looking at other models, specially ones with external solar panels and better Wi-Fi reception.

This feeder is a great concept. Getting to see birds up close, and even identify the species? Sign me up. It's easy enough to mount, and set up. It has a built in solar charger for the camera. It feels very well made, like it's not going to fall apart any time soon. It has a main hopper for bird feed of your choosing, and two little tiny flower cups fo hummingbird feeding as well.Now all of this is perfect for feeding the avian populous around you home, where this unit falls flat unfortunately is the software used to control and view the camera. It's very basic. Not fleshed out very good. Setting up the camera through the app is easy, but the motion detection, and basic operation of the features is terrible. I've tested it with many different setting changed to just try to get it to work right. It sometimes doesn't detect anything when there is clearly something in front of it. Connecting to it when you get an alert takes too long, so if you wanted to watch birds live they'll likely be gone before you get to see it live. For reference this unit is about 3ft away from my router, so connection issues shouldn't be a problem. I cannot stress how bad this app is. Camera doesn't wake up when you try to, just get a timed out error. Not good.Overall as I said before, it's a brilliant idea. But execution is somewhat lacking.

Wanted to see all the birds, squirrels we have outside. This was the perfect bird feeder for that. The app definitely needs some work. If they could get an app working correctly this would be perfect but the way it is you will have some issues. I’m currently looking for another app that will work with this bird feeder.The quality and stuff of this feeder is really nice.it’s just that app which is a real shame.

Absolutely love this camera/ bird feeder. My toddler and I love getting to watch so closely as they eat and talk about what kind of birds they are. The installion was easy and it's a hit for everyone in our household. Worth the money, especially for avid birdwatchers

I saw this bird feeder and had to have it. Seemed like a great concept. First red flag should have been that it needs to have 2.4G wifi connection for set up...so we had to take it to the middle of our yard to get it set up. Once we had the birdfeeder on our network, the connection was spotty to say the least. My husband and I love to watch birds and love to try and identify them...we thought this feeder would be the answer. We are hoping that with time things will improve. Love the concept!!!

This is an awesome feeder. Super easy to set up. Needs an app that gets downloaded. The app not only shows you what the camera sees, but also has a feature to identify what type of birds are eating on the feeder. How cool!! The camera gives a very clear picture. The top of the feeder has the solar panel, which is super convenient. The feeder must be in direct sunlight for at least part of the day though, otherwise the battery won’t last. One negative is the very small opening to put the bird seed in. Honestly I wish the whole top would flip open. Otherwise I am going to need a much smaller cup in order to not dump the seed everywhere. Holds a decent amount of seed though. Overall love the camera feeders.
