Burns too Quickly
As a vegetarian, I have a limited selection of foods I can smoke, although I really enjoy smoked tofu. Buying a package at Whole Foods is much more costly than just getting 8 oz of Nasoya at my local grocery store, so smoking it myself seems like a great option. I decided to try the Kelly Craig Single Use Smoke Bomb to try home-smoking and ended up with so-so results.First, I should mention I was working with a propane grill. The instructions say to soak the ball of cedar chips (which are wrapped in a muslin bag), wrap in foil, then make a small puncture (through both the aluminum and the muslin) and place directly into the flame. While I was a bit concerned about this, it appeared to work pretty well initially. While it didn't burst into flames, as I feared, it only lasted a little more than an hour before it was totally burnt out. This really wasn't enough time to infuse the tofu with a strong smoky flavor and I can only imagine it would be no different with meat. I understand that to really get a decent smoky flavor takes many hours and this really is too small to accomplish that.Perhaps it would work better with a charcoal grill, but my results with the gas grill were wishy-washy at best. Also, this is much, much pricier than just buying a big bag of mesquite chips.

Cost is way to high
WAY too pricey for small amount. Yes, they work, I used it on some ribs. We didn't feel like it had that perfect smokiness, it was extremely light.

Price Tag Of Convenience
My husband has a charcoal grill, smoker, and gas grill-I say this point out how much of a meat smoking/ grilling nerd he is. I thought this might be easier for him than busting out the smoker for hours at a time, and it is easier. Just soak it, wrap in aluminum, and poke a hole through the aluminum and muslin. We used the charcoal grill, and it smoked the porkchops without a problem. The smokey flavor was pretty subtle though, and certainly wasnt what a smoker could do.There’s also the issue of price- for the same amount, you could buy a bag of chips and impart the same flavor. Or make tons of your own little bags. You're paying the price for convenience here, and it’s pretty steep. But if you just want to test smoking this might work better. If you like it, invest in a smoker and a bag of chips.

subtle flavor but nice
These impart a nice flavor to the food and are simple to use. I have had good luck with them and plan to get more. The flavor is subtle yet you are aware of it.

horrible value, but they do work
overpriced by a large margin. This is a tiny bag of chips for a big price. They work, but are a super poor value. Go for a plastic bag of chips at one tenth the price at your local store.

Easy and Tasty
This was a fun experiment for me. I had never tried to smoke anything on the grill before. Really easy though. Just soak this (Which is actually the hardest part, since it floats) for a few minutes and then wrap it in foil, poke a few holes into the foil and the cloth and put it as close to the flames as you can. I used it to make a brisket.I'd definitely get more of these to keep playing around with them.
