The bad reviews for this product are a bit puzzling, as this motion-sensitive little bell works great! When it arrived, we peeled the cover off of the adhesive backing, grabbed a step stool, and attached the bell to the upper left hand part of the door, toward the top of the apartment door. We wanted it there so the bell could be exposed to the maximum duration of movement of the door. It is a good placement choice, as even if the door is moved gently, you hear the bell.We’d been wanting a little chime to ring whenever the door was opened or closed, sort of as a “lucky” or just sweet sound, to make opening the door into the hallway of the apartment building more pleasant. Also, while it is rare occurrence, when no one is watching him, one of the cats will claw at the door in an attempt to go exploring, and we wanted a little “alarm” in case that happened.From its first use out of the box, whenever the door opened or closed- the bell jingled sweetly.This bell sounds during the “regular” action of the door opening or closing, too. It doesn’t require much force behind the motion of the door to hear it ring. In fact, it was surprising how sensitive the bell is to movement. The only way we don’t hear it ring is if we intentionally open or close the door in a very, very slow, exaggeratedly deliberate way, so as not to engage the bell’s mechanism.This bell makes a very sweet, very satisfying little jingle. The sound is reminiscent of those Japanese bells that have a slip of paper hanging from them that you hang in the garden. It’s a lovely, sweet tone.We are *very* pleased with the performance of this bell. It’s as nice to look at as it is to hear, too. Highly recommended!

We have kiddos that like to escape the house, so despite having numerous locks and child safety features in place there are still occasions where they can slip out. These work great at letting us know when a door is opened without being obnoxiously loud like the alarms have been. It’s loud enough to hear throughout the house but again not a sound that makes you twitch every time you hear it. Think wind chime.

I love the sound, the material is nice, I wanted a wind chime for the inside of my front door but wasn’t sure I wanted to drill a hole on the wall or the ceiling but this one is so easy to instal with the doble sided tape, and it looks nice… I’m so happy with this product

I bought this for my adult son. Since before he was born, I have had door chimes on my front door. I thought he'd like a set of his own, but I couldn't find anything at all like what I have, so I got this because I liked the look of it. It comes very nicely packaged. It's beautifully boxed, there is a foam surround, with a hole to hold the clapper, so it doesn't clang around inside the box. It has a magnet on back for metal doors, but has mounting materials for other types of doors. It was smaller than I expected, but I don't count that as a negative. My son was very pleased with it. It would be cute on a refrigerator, too.

Nice but can’t really hear them

I am very satisfied with the purchase. The bell tone is very relaxing and can be heard very well throughout the house. I find it to be a great way to create a peaceful atmosphere in my home.My only problem with the device is that the magnets are a bit too weak to hold it in place. I have found that it can easily fall off if I am not careful. I would recommend that the manufacturer either use stronger magnets or use more of them on the bell.Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others.
