Nicely functioning UV plus internal sponge filter and aerator.
I've had aquariums for many years and have tried just about every sort of filter imaginable during that time. I've tried a couple versions of a UV sterilizer filter as well. The first UV sterilizer I tried had no way to turn off the UV sterilizer light short of unplugging it from the wall. That bulb, running constantly, didn't last long. This JAHEA Aquarium Filter w/Cycle U-V Light, gives me the best of several other filters all rolled into one well designed one. First and foremost, the UV light itself is not visible unless you take the filter apart. That's a good thing since looking at a UV sterilizer light while it's on is not real good for your eyes. While the filter is assembled and operating in my tank, the UV sterilizer light is not visible, it's completely contained by the filter structure. Water is pumped through a channel inside the filter where it is exposed to the sterilizer light. Nice design. You can turn the UV light on and off, or set it to run for a either 4 or 8 hours, from outside the tank. There is a control panel located near where the filter cord plugs into the ac outlet. You can see there if the light is on or off as well.Besides being a tank sterilizer, this filter is also a competent inside the tank sponge filter as well as a tank aerator. You do have to clean the sponge part of the filter about every month or so. To do that you must lift the filter out of the tank, and remove the covering of the bottom half of the filter structure. It's easy to do. You then remove the sponge, ring it out and rinse it under a faucet, and put it back in .The tank water aeration can be done one of two ways. You can attach the included arm to the top of the filter that drops the filtered and sterilized water gently back into the tank from a few inches above the water surface. The alternative is to have the filter exhaust the filtered and sterilized tank water back into the tank below the water line. You are also able to have outside air added to the underwater exhaust . That makes bubbles, which actually looks pretty nice. All in all, a nicely designed aquarium filter that has earned a five star rating from me.

Big Unit. Nice, but not for smaller tanks.
Review Of:JAHEA Aquarium Filter w/Cycle U-V Light,Internal Green Water Killer Filter Aquarium Tank for 40-200 Gal,210 GPH 5 in 1 Fish Tank Filter(10W U-V+8W Pump)Price: $38.98Let me start by saying this. The full length (height) of this filter is 15". When you factor in your substate (sand, rocks) height and clearance from it, plus needing to mount this a few inches below your water level, this device requires a tank that is at least 20" in height. So while you might be able to fit this in a tall "small tank", not sure that it is the best option, it is quite large. I have a 210 gallon aquarium that is 24" high so it fits quite nicely. It also states that is cycles 210 gallons per hour, that is a very good flow rate for a device like this. While it comes with pretty decent instructions, in 7 different languages, they are pretty generic, but easy to follow. The UV Light bulb is replaceable, which is a bonus since some units are throw aways. I do wish the instructions showed how to change the bulb, since it will eventually burn out. I did take the time to remove the light (pic. 5) and here is how to do it. Remove the top chamber (nearest to pump). You will see a threaded bonnet around the base of the light. Slowly unscrew this, there are a lot of threads. Once it is loose, slide it up and slowly slide the glass housing away from the unit. There is an O-ring sealing the bonnet to the glass, so as not to expose the bulb directly to water. Once that is off, the bulb pulls right out, it has a 4 pin connector. The instructions don't tell you what type of bulb to replace it with, but 4 pin UV bulbs are relatively easy to find, just make sure it is 10W and fits inside the glass tube.I use 3 canister filters and a HOB on my tank. This was a nice add on filter to be used as a mechanical, biological, chemical or combination of the 3.Super easy to put together and the 3 suction cups hold it firmly to the glass. I like that it has 3 separate chambers, each having a filter sponge, that should be cleanable and thus last for quite awhile. The cleaning is very simple, unplug and remove the unit from the water. Twist each of the 3 chambers to separate them from each other. Wash filters and reinstall. If you are using chlorinated water, remember to either wash in dechlorinated water or treat your tank with a dechlorinator after installing the cleaned sponges. You could substitute out the provided filters with any media you like, as long as it fits in and around the bulbThe final feature of it that I like is the ability to either add airflow or not. If you don't want the airflow, keep the provided rubber cap on the outlet. Want air flow? Remove it and attach the provided hose, it is that simple. Also, you can direct the water flow up or down, with the pivoting head. One other note. Since the UV light is shielded from view (a good thing). It has a limited life span, so when you are cleaning the filters, it is a good idea to quickly run the unit (outside the water) with the cannisters off, to see if the bulb is turning on. Don't run it very long outside of the water, I imagine it uses water to keep the pump motor cool.2 Thumbs up for quality, functionality and value

Works in my 55 gallon tank.
I clean my tank on a regular, but there's always a green hue. I've tried other filters, cleaning capsules, even liquid cleaning aquarium products, but nothing has cleared the water. I've used this filter for two weeks and there's a noticeable difference. It's easy to install and the suction cups keep it in place. The UV light is not visible, so as to not damage the eyes. This filter has cut down on my cleaning time. Hands down, a good value.
