The long awaited debut set from this quartet is an album that reaches for the heights of Jeff Buckley, the intensity of a less-goth Muse, and the heft of vintage Radiohead, "Mother" is quite some achievement. Documenting many highs and lows from Harry Collier's convoluted life story in the form of bitter but glorious tunes like "Bitch" and towering, orchestral songs like "Grow". Each track has strong emotional intent and dark undertows, as Harry says himself "you can say it's a bit soft but it's also hardcore". After an appearance on "Later... with Jools Holland", this album instantly soared to the top of online demand lists in the U.K.

Moments of excellence
I heard this album while in a music store, and just had to buy it. I had not heard Kubb before, but was looking for something new.Well, what I got was a very polished album with some standout tracks - glad I got it.The singles have a great sound - something like Savage Garden meets Coldplay, slowed down to true mellow. In fact, the album has a lot more slower mellow tracks than I expected, after hearing 'Wicked Soul' which is one of the most addictive songs in a while. This was a bit disappointing at first, but on further listenings I am finding I am enjoying the slow mellow tracks more and more. One more point - I found this under 'Alternative Rock' in the store.. I would describe it as neither of those! It is mellow pop... take it as that, and you wont be disappointed - expect something with a little more edge, and you wont find it here.

Extremely Sexy Voice
My good friend made me listen to the song 'Wicked Soul' one day, and ever since then I've been hooked. Kubb has a wonderful, sexy sound that will leave you pleading the CD for more. After listening to the whole CD, my position on this matter is the same. All the songs on the CD are well worth your time and money. The only song I find disagreeable is 'Grow', but even that sounds much better than most of the music currently on today's radio. If you like music from groups like Snow Patrol and The Killers, this is the stuff for you. Now if they would just release their lovely little CD here in the USA, we could all enjoy their magic. Until then, import it if you have the money and show an interest in them so an American label will pick them up.

saw kubb live
saw kubb play live in southampton on nov 1st, and they were awesome. i'm expecting big things for this band. first saw on jools holland later tv show, and for me they stole the show. harry lead singer has a very powerful voice, with a high octave range. musically, there are a few influences i can hear - muse (only less "theatrical"), early u2, jeff buckley .. the list goes on.keep an eye (and ear!) out for this band.

Quite simply, an amazing set of songs, totally under-rated and under-valued by most
Great lyrics, every tune a winner, an album of real depth and hooks that stay with you

Magnifique
