yes it will, you can get it at wallmart too in bigger rolls. you can see it turn brown on the underside of the filter .

it is NOT thin like a piece of cloth.. it is at least 1/4 inch thick

Q: Does using this reduce air flow?

It most definitely does reduce air flow. I would not recommend due to the possibility of putting stress on your heating system.

Q: Can you tell a difference in the temperature of the room?

There is no difference in the air flow. The temperature stayed the same. Just a lot less dust. You will be amazed at the dirt you will find in the return air vents.
