Some of my favorite and most-used sculpting tools are $10-15 each, so I definitely wasn't expecting to find tools of that caliber in this 17-piece set for $25.99. But I'd have to say that overall I was pleased with most of the selection included in this set for the low price.I like to keep certain tools dedicated to certain types of clay -- for instance, I don't use tools that I use for 2-part epoxy clays for other clays because they're more easily ruined if the epoxy cures on them before I get them cleaned. For that same reason, I also don't use my most expensive tools for clays that may ruin the tools. That's why I bought this inexpensive set as an option to use specifically with that type of clay.I can't say that I'll use all of the tools included. A few of them are a bit too soft and flexible for the type of sculpting I do, but they may work well for other purposes and softer clays. They're all on the small side, but there's a good assortment of types included -- everything from flexible, tape-wrapped dental tools to stainless knife points to small ribbon sculpting tools. Most of my sculpting is done with a bit heavier-duty stainless tools, but I still have a use for smaller detail tools like these.The manufacturer seems to aim to please, also. After my purchase (full price), I received an email with tips on using the tools which would be especially helpful for someone new to sculpting.

I absolutely love my tool set! Just what I expected from the reviews--very high quality and makes a HUGE difference working with Sculpey clay. I am a complete beginner working with craft clay, but the tools make up for what I lack in experience. I bought these because I wanted to make some items for cosplay as well as fun trinkets and figurines, and that required detail work. I knew that I couldn't get the results I wanted just using my hands, but the tool sets they sold at my local craft stores seemed really lacking: expensive and only had three or four tools. They also were either made of plastic (cheap) or wood (which I don't like the feel of). I picked this set because it had an array of different types of tools, but what really sold me was that they were made of metal. I love the feel of them in my hands. The weight of them and knowing they won't bend or break gives me peace of mind. I also like that they *feel* smooth. Some of them came wrapped with tape too, which helps give them more grip without losing functionality (and you can remove it too if you want). Skilled Crafter also sent me a pdf guide via email, which was a nice bonus! Great experience overall and highly recommended!!

I am new to working with clay and was looking for a set of tools that would fit a variety of uses. Based on the pictures of this set the tools were similar in size to the rifflers I use for stone carving. I am very happy with the product. The tools are a good weight and feel good in my hand while using them. Also, the seller communicated with me during the shipping process and post delivery. Good product and good customer relations! I will buy from this seller again when in the market for sculpting tools in the future.

They are exactly what the product description shows. The shipment was prompt and quick. The package is compact and recylceable.The product itself is nice and after some use, as a clay modeler both professional and hobby, I can say the tool are nice but can be better. The stainless steel is ok, the polish makes it look kinda cheap and some of the thinner tapered shapes tend to bend a bit too much if used on harder clay for my preference. I like the smaller loop tools but again, wish it was made from steel instead of aluminum since it bends too easily. The variety is a plus but would like to see a bit more angled shapes. Thank you

This is close to being a perfect set but falls short in a couple of areas from being the-only-set-you'll-ever-need.PROS: quality tools (e.g. no burrs/etc.), comfortable to use, not oversized (spatulate 4-set is kinda big, but make for good cutting tools), good varietyCONS: no real needle-head tool, no ball-head tool(s), small additive spatulate tools (the colored set) are a tad on the thick endIf the set were slightly adjusted to include the two common tools missing in CONS, it would be a 5-star for me. I think bigger-diameter wood-handles would be lighter and more comfortable to handle (in place of the solid metal colored set), but that is not worth taking stars off for.(Using this for small polymer clay sculpting).

Clay-working tools arrived quickly and as pictured. Sturdy, nice wt but not too heavy, and the colored taping on the handles does make the grip better! Well-made; I expect them to last a long time. The seller followed up right away re my satisfaction with both the speed of delivery and what I thought about his instruments, and appeared to take pride in providing an excellent product for those of us who work with clay (or cookie dough, for that matter!), and that if I DID have any concerns, he wanted to know right away. Someone who seems to value making a quality product is a wonderful thing. I would purchase from him again. I look forward to using these tools for years.

I bought these tools for working in polymer clay and I love them! As other reviewers have said, they feel very sturdy and high quality. There's a good weight to them despite their size. The little cardboard case they came in is good for storage, but they also fit perfectly in a regular pencil case. There are so many different kinds and a variety of sizes, I haven't gotten a chance to use them all yet.I wasn't bothered by the fact that there is no grip/padding on some of the handles. As the description says, you can easily put your own tape over the handles if you feel like you need more padding.I would definitely recommend these tools to anyone who works with clay.

Although I am a new student to sculpting, I know as a painter that poor-quality tools are not a bargain in the long run. Most reviews of beginner sculpting/pottery tools seemed to be critical of quality and endurance. This set will not disappoint and is worthy of a 5-star review. It is well worth the $23 I paid (with a discount coupon applied).

Great quality tools that feel comfortable to work with. The build quality is top notch. The price is reasonable. I highly recommend Skilled Crafter products for ceramic tools. I intend to get their larger ceramic tool sets eventually, but this is a excellent start.
