I bought this to replace the Anika purple shampoo I’ve used for years because it’s just too expensive anymore. Unfortunately, this shampoo turned my hair a deep purple. I had to wash with nasty smelling, toxic Dawn dish soap several times and spray with lemon juice. I almost went in to my stylist for an early treatment since I couldn’t get it out readily but finally I did. The conditioner I bought to go with it was excellent so I’d like to know what I can do to try and avoid this next time but I’ve not been brave enough to try it again and bought another brand.

I would love to give 4 stars but I cannot use the shampoo or my hair turns purple until I wash it out. By the 2nd shampoo a couple days later it is basically out. I hv tried to only put it on my hair for 10 or so seconds so it doesn't change the color but as soon as it goes on my hair, it does.the only thing that I found to work a bit better is mixing it with another shampoo. I can only put the smallest amount of it in to another shampoo. It stinks bc I bought it to take away brassy tones. I definitely do not want purple in my hair then either. I do love the ash blonde color I get AFTER the purple leaves my hair. It does a great job of taking the brass out, I hv to admit. U just have to deal with purple-tinted hair for a few days.

If you are looking for a serious toning shampoo look no further. This truly does neutralize brassy tones in the hair leaving it ashy. Don't leave it on too long or you will end up with a purple hue. Personally I don't like my hair overly ashy so this wasn't for me but I can see other people loving it.

Effectiveness reduces/removes brassiness in blonde hair going grey. 10/10
