This hall tree had a more antique finish rather than a glossy, shiny finish. The size description was accurate and the piece fit perfectly in the space I needed to use it in. It is a little top heavy so I filled the bottom shelf with gold brick door stoppers to add some weight and keep it more stable. It does come with adjustable plates on the back if you need to anchor it to the wall. Those were a little awkward though due to the baseboard width at the bottom preventing the piece from being placed flush against the wall. Anchoring would actually create an awkward line from floor to top along the back of the hall-tree. Overall, I would definitely purchase again because in spite of it's slight design flaws, it is very esthetically pleasing and quite functional.
