Elixir Gardens® Bumper Crop Garden Lime is a unique, fast acting soil conditioner, specially formulated to help manage soil pH, improving soil fertility whilst optimising crop and grass performance. Correcting soil pH is very important, depending on what you are wanting to grow. Commonly grown plants that can benefit from our Lime include: Lily, Iris, Bluebell, Crocus, Geranium, Hyacinth, Poppy and Morning Glory. Most vegetables prefer a slightly acidic soil (pH of around 6.5-7.0) potatoes tend to prefer soils a bit lower pH than this to flourish. Some veg will grow well in Alkaline soil, such as Asparagus, Leeks, Lima Beans, Spinach and Mushrooms (amongst more). Trees that grow well in alkaline soil include (but are not limited to) Maple, Douglas Fir, Austrian Pine, Bur Oak, Hackberry, Green Ash and Honeylocust Bush and shrub options also include Lilac, Forsythia, Barberry, certain Hydrangeas (not blue), Juniper, Butterfly Bush and Blackcurrant. As long as you know what it is you need for the plants you're growing and our product will not steer you wrong. Also, remember that adding too much Garden Lime may result in a soil too alkaline and will have the opposite of the intended effect, decreasing yield.
