Random House Books for Young Readers Field Guide to Scorpions of South Africa

This is the best field guide I own, and I don't even live in South Africa!
This is an amazing resource! Every species includes range maps, detailed descriptions, contrasts with similar species, clear and consistent photos, and an accurate scale reference that is consistent across all entrees. This level of detail is rare for an invertebrate field guide and the publishing quality is remarkable.Note to the author:Please do exactly the same thing for the amblypygids of Central America, I'll by a copy for everyone I know!

Pour les passionnés d'arachnologie uniquement
Dommage que ce guide ne couvre qu'une seule région d'Afrique. J'aurais préféré des illustrations mais malgré tout les photos sont de bonne qualité

Excellent book!
Very good quality print, many images and extremely useful scientific content for hobbyists but not only. Many scorpion species are presented in detail, with complete information about anatomy, habitat, sexual dimorphism, behavior and much more.I would be happy to find books on scorpion species from other areas of the world as well written as this one.

Fantastic, Concise Reference.
I want to write a review ASAP because I am so impressed with this book.Everything about this book is excellent. There is a good amount of scientific information, but it is presented in such a way that lay people can understand it.The text is supplemented with excellent photographs. What differs with this book is examples of many of the scorpion's habitats are shown. There is also a system which the author used to rate the medical significance of the sting for the scorpions. This is helpful also.I hope that one day I can visit SA and use this in the field. The tl:dr An excellent text. Highly recommended.
