Terrific album. Released just as record label went bust, so largely unnoticed, but worth seeking out

I have got this album on lp and I haven't heard it for years. It was great to buy it on cd and to listen to it.fantastic cd good value . good packaging, highly recommended seller. Received with a big thankyou.

Absolutely superb album. Hot Love drives at you like a freight train, He's a Whore...same impact. The Ballad of T.V. Violence... same thing, but more subtle. This was my introduction to CT way back in history. A punk from its birth,, I could appreciate the aforementioned tracks, and utterly loved them. The rest took the passing of time to get to grips with, but let me tell you.... this album is hard rock through and through and should be in every rocker's collection.In every punk's collection too. In fact, so should every album Cheap Trick ever released, including their Sgt Pepper's album. I would say in fairness, that this S/T album could do with a total remaster, as the original vinyl, and subsequent cd versions, seem to lack quality production but don't let that put you off. There's a live quality to it, and maybe that's what CT wanted. Invest in it, then you can rate it yourself, but don't rate it based on a cracked cd case, the colour of the jiffy bag it came in, or the quality of the Sellotape used to secure the package. Irrelevant! It's the ALBUM you're rating!

That this album sank virtually without trace on release is quite possibly the biggest injustice of the bands history.'Cheap Trick' is quite simply one of the bands best albums and is a sure fire delight for fans. Opener 'Anytime' could have graced any of the early albums and still been a stand out! A lot of the songs on this album have that classic CT 'nervous' edge about them but maybe rock just a little less hard. This said, the influx of melody and commerciality proves to be most welcome and how single 'Say Goodbye' missed the charts is a mystery? 'Wrong All Along' and 'Baby No More' are typical Robin Zander shouty rock numbers, while the tender and touching 'Shelter' perhaps shows that there is a serious side to our beloved Mr Neilsen after all! The album fiinshes as strongly as it started too with the excellent, atmospheric 'Eight Miles Low' and the rock ballad (but not like 'The Flame') 'It All Comes Back To You'. If you like Cheap Trick but have heard bad things about this record, FORGET WHAT YOU'VE HEARD cos' this is a classic. ESSENTIAL.

Not to be confused with their self titled debut album, Cheap Trick (97) is classic Cheap Trick. The band went with a small indie label and made an album the way they wanted it to sound, without all the corporate major label interference trying to make CT sound like a ballad band.It's tragic that Red Ant Records went belly up right when this album came out. This album is right up there with their first three albums IMHO. If you don't have it. Get it.
