Hand for model building.
works great for arts and crafts. First order had something faulty with on off, they send me second and had no issues.

Not really what i was expecting...
It's a nice Stand for your desk, but in reality, you have fixed positions all over, you can not adjust it as you wish, or yes you kind of can but its way too complicated, it will be easier if you can just adjust the hight of the main stand, not 3 separate pieces, my bad for not checking it before ordering it...and the side pole, there's no way you can place a camera over there, it tends to bend a lot, a small light and that's the best you can get from that part. I'm still using it because i bought two, now I'm using only one and a flex stand instead, the other it's just in one box around the corner. Not using the side one either

Arm allows you to take overhead videos from near or far
The media could not be loaded. I love the arm which can be placed anywhere along the vertical rod that it's on. You can do very close overhead shots, like painting the nails, or from farther away, like colouring in an 8.5 by 11 book. In the latter case you would attach the second vertical rod to place the arm on so that you could see the whole book or bigger object that requires the camera to be further away. The arm is a bit persnickety where it will not fit around the rod unless the clamp part of the arm is unscrewed a great deal. The video shows how close I can get to the subject with the arm at the lowest point on the vertical pole.

Not as easy to assemble as you would think
I assembled the piece using my walker seat instead of the desk to make it more accessible to me. You can transfer it anywhere that holds a C clamp once it’s assembled. The instructions weren’t very clear at a couple points, or maybe I should say the pictures of the parts in what you’re supposed to do didn’t match the parts in my hands completely. I mean the one arm went in where it said but not securely. It doesn’t matter though, it works just fine if you switch out the holding bracket to the other head if you need it to swivel. I am 59 years old but I have always been mechanically inclined and put things together on a regular basis. It could still be me though, I may just not have been able to grasp these particular instructions. I don’t want to put anyone off because it really is a great phone holder but I have to be honest about my difficulties. So it works great, despite my lack of assembly talent. The spring loaded phone clip is tight and secure. Everything that is screwed together is tight and secure, the angles hold really well. And you can put it in any position imaginable. Plus being able to easily move the C clamp holding the base makes it very portable and adaptable to any location. Now that it’s together I really love it.

Just okay
It does it's job but the posable arm does not hold as much weight as it claims. I have a very small camera attached and it sags under the weight no matter much I tighten it.

Sturdier than I expected, and quite versatile
SmallRig has proven to be a brand that I trust for camera accessories, and this boom arm camera/light support is no exception. The parts and accessories came extremely well packaged with cardboard separators for each piece. The accessory parts that are included will connect you to almost anything including a standard light mount or a mic stand. The pictures show various configurations for the sections to allow holding both a camera and a light, but it should be noted that the tubing section with the ball-head (shown as a horizontal arm) can alternatively be used as an added extension to give the arm further reach out over a table top. I find this most useful for placing a camera in a looking-down position over the working area of a table. The joints at the tube ends and the ball head are made of plastic and metal, while the split clamp which is shown on the ball-head section (and it is removable) is cast aluminum, as is the head of the knob. In this case it seems that the use of mixed metal and plastic for the joints is appropriate and strong enough for the application, which is probably limited to holding a phone camera or a GoPro. The table clamp is an impressively thick metal piece, much better than I was expecting. There are a minor things to point out that I did not find sufficient to down-rate the product . First, the cast aluminum clamp that is shown holding the single horizontal tube to the vertical section appears to have been designed for a smaller diameter tube and has to be spread wide open to fit around the large diameter of the vertical tube. It still works however, although the knob that tightens it could have been improved by the inclusion of a steel or nylon washer. With both the clamp and the head of the knob made of anodized aluminum there is an unpleasant abrasive sound when the knob is tightened the first few times.Secondly if this mount is to be used to hold a camera the table should be rock-solid or the arm should be attached to a separate surface that is not likely to get bumped. The extended arm with the weight of a camera and possibly a light can get quite wobbly if shaken. Even a very heavy extension arm of this length would have the same problem, and it's not a deficiency of the product so much as the physics of having a mass on the end of a flexible arm.I'm going to find the configuration options with this set to be quite useful. Recommended.
