Mined since the 7th millennium BC, Lapis Lazuli is mottled with white calcite and brassy pyrite and has been treasured since ancient times. Fashioned into jewelry, carved into figurines, and used as eye shadow by Cleopatra, the blue of this gemstone is unique. Lapis pigment was even used in the painting "Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Vermeer to create the stunning blue accents. The lanyard measures 36 inches (18 inches from the back of the neck) and finishes with a 3/4 inch ring that fits most ID clips. It is strung on steel wrapped wire for strength with smooth beads around the back of the neck for comfort. The blue bead at the bottom measures ¾ of an inch tall.
