soft and bright colors, but already shedding still in the cake
I've been crocheting for over 15 years, and I use Lion Brand Yarn semi regularly. I hadn't tried this particular line yet, though. I bought the color Black Cherry. I usually use bulky/chenille style yarn like this to make beds for my cats, but this one is already shedding fibers (not in the picture) and I haven't even used it or unwound it yet. Its very soft and the colors are fun, but I'm not sure how durable the finished project will be. I'll update with a picture of the finished project once I've used it.edit: it worked up nicely, I ended up just making a rectangle. I wouldn't recommend this for beginners as it doesn't have a lot of stitch definition and I operated mostly on feel. It looks kind of cool.

LOVE this color combo
This is not an especially soft yarn. It’s soft, but not velvety like a lot of bulky yarns I’ve been working with recently. It does have a nice texture, though. You need a very big crochet hook for this. The band says 9mm but you could easily go up a size, because even though it’s listed as a 6/super bulky yarn, it’s quite a bit bulkier than some other 6 yarns that I have. It is machine washable and dryable. There are 148 yards to the cake. This and all other information is listed on the band.It comes in a large cake, but it’s not as much as it seems due to the thickness. Because of the texture and color of the yarn, it’s nearly impossible to find the end! I tried pulling it out of the middle and got a large yarn barf with the end buried in the middle of it. I still haven’t been able to find the end on the outside of the cake!It works up without too much problem and frogs relatively easily. It is NOT a beginner yarn, though—due to the variegated color and the texture, it’s almost impossible to see your stitches. You have to either count very carefully or plan to go on feel. Experienced crocheters should be able to handle this, but it will just frustrate beginners.I got the Black Cherry and it’s exquisite—I absolutely love the color combination. I’m excited to find the right project for this and will probably purchase another cake to make sure I have enough.

Fluffy and so soft
The skein of Lion Brand yarn I received is just wonderful. It's much bigger than I thought it would be. Even at 148yds, this yarn is so incredibly plush and soft to the touch that the cake style roll is as big as my entire hand when I set it on top of the cake. And my hands aren't at all small. I've been told they're monkey paws. I can't disagree. There's distinct color changes if anyone is interested in trying to find out if it will pool. I've just recently learned how to pool yarn but, with 5 color changes whereas there's only three in this yarn pattern. I'm sure it will though. I'm truly in awe at the quality of this yarn.

Very pretty colors! Soft and fluffy.
This yarn came wrapped in plastic with a cardstock paper ring around the outside with branding, info, and washing instructions. Right out of the package it's wrapped nicely. It's also very soft and the colors are awesome! I've played with it a little and picked at it and haven't had any shedding yet so that seems fine to me. It's not a stretchy yarn but is thick and I'm excited to work with it. It seems like it'll be fun to work with and I'm excited to start a project with it.

Hugh pilling problem
Very soft and buttery…but! After a month it starts pilling like crazy. The bits and pieces are aok over the floor, clothes, hair, you name it. I bought sooo many of these and soo expensive for what you get in a skein. Beautiful but never again!

Pretty and soft but does pill a bit
That said, I don't have a whole lot of experience with this kind of yarn. I don't know how inevitable pilling is. I would think it would be to an extent.I love the Black Cherry color combination though and the yarn feels so soft and strong. It also says it's machine washable and dryable which is definitely a plus.

Great pattern
I love the pattern in this yarn. It would be perfect for a scarf or an afghan. It is soft and easy to work with. Not chunky, closer to worsted weight. A great cake of yarn. It is a larger cake too, coming with quite a bit.
