Never knew a lamp could have so much variety.

It hasn't so far. The base doesn't weight a 'ton', but so far it's been sufficient to keep any accidents from happening. The included directions have really poor English and were difficult to decipher, but I managed to get the time set. Nice that you can choose between a 12 or 24 hour clock. Very nice, wide range of dim to bright and what 'temperature' you like your light set at. The feature we wish had been included that wasn't is the fact that you can't turn the light from side to side, only up and down. With it angled down and away from me it takes up very little desk space. The husband really likes that there's a space for pens and that you can charge two devices from the front of the lamp. Good that you can choose between white or black too.

Makes a high pitched noise
Good lamp, but makes an annoying high pitched noise which makes it practicaly unusable.It also seems to be designed to prevent repairs as it has no screws.
