Happy End

Great acting and directing from two of Korea's best actors elevates a conventional doomed love triangle story
Korean movies, at least in the broad "drama" category, can be hard to describe to film goers unfamiliar with them. They often have the naturalistic story pacing and acting styles one associates with European or independent art house cinema from the 60s and 70s with relationship focused storylines.. Counterbalancing that feel however is often a grit and edge in Korean films which sometimes explodes in the film's late stages in a more visceral way than one would expect from this genre of film making. There's nothing original plot wise here but it's executed with superb directing and acting from the electric actress Do yeon Jeon (Housemaid) and the equally exciting but here toned down Choi MinSik (I Saw the Devil). The ending for me was too great of a shift in tone so deducting stars based thereon, but well worth seeing.

Good movie with unexpected twists
I did not expect the dramatic happy ending of this movie. This was a very good movie from start to finish. I was drawn to these characters with the affair that was going on. Maybe I'm too emotional, but I found myself on the edge of my seat.

Overall it was a good, if sometimes painful
Not a single massage in the whole movie, so the title is a little misleading...The story is about a couple, or to be more precise, a triad. The wife is cheating. The husband finds out. And well, let’s just say he avoided divorce court. Hard to feel sympathy for any of the characters, but it was well acted the ending was a bit twisted, in a Tarantino kind of way.Overall it was a good, if sometimes painful, movie to watch.

Cheating Wife and Lover Get Karma, But No Happy Ending Since Everyone Loses
Very dark movie, but realistic. Jilted hubby kills cheating wife and frames brazen boyfriend who goes down for her murder. Karma I guess since she drugged their little baby, then left the baby alone to go screw the boyfriend -- hubby/father came home and rushed baby to hospital. Not sure if wife/mother was trying to kill baby or simply abandon her for a couple of hours while daddy gone so she could go to be with lover.

Good movie--though the love scenes have been edited down from original Korean release version.
All in all, this is a good movie. In this Amazon Video version, the two major love scenes have been severely edited down from the original Korean version. The original scenes did a great job at showing the passion that is missing from her marriage. The edits do not ruin the movie and the actors playing the married couple are both amazing.

i enjoyed most of the movie as the characters and their complexity are very raw. i think it's really the climax of the movie that made me feel a rather distaste and discomfort especially because i hadn't realized what i had signed up for.WARNING: Scene with a lot of blood and violence.

Not Job Related
no "job related" adultery involved in this film, entirely an affair which had already produced a daughter in the lead female's "husband"'s name. The inability of the husband to obtain salary man employment had nothing to do with it. Rather a bizarre version of "divorce" from the lead female, implicating the long term lover for her murder, when she had long since "taken off her wedding ring" to declare her own "single" status. Unclear how the "Happy End" title got applied to this tragic movie.
