Helpful and Comprehensive Guide
The J.E.D.I. Leader's Playbook by Omar L. Harris is a self-help book for executives working in the justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion space as well as anyone else who would like to promote these values in their business. The book takes the reader through every step, from finding the 'why' to sustaining progress over the long term.Harris' manual is comprehensive and includes various practical models, tables, and graphs as well as interesting and up-to-date statistics about the current situation. I particularly liked the chapter about taking care of yourself as a leader. This is often overlooked in other books about this topic. I also thought the structure, with a summary chapter at the end, was very intuitive. Readers who don't want to go through the book chronologically can start with the last chapter to get an overview and then pick out sections that are relevant for them. This makes the book more accessible and easier to read for busy professionals. Although I think some sections could have been condensed slightly, I would highly recommend this book to everyone already working in this field or interested in getting started.

An insightful guide
Harris continues his J.E.D.I Leadership series with this insightful second installment. In this book, Harris provides a toolkit for companies and organizations looking to implement justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. This step by step guide explains the "why" behind these values and how they can benefit businesses in the long run. The writing is clear and easy to understand, despite being filled with the usual business jargon. To those who are more visual learners, Harris provides numerous tables, graphs, and practical models as well as current and interesting statistics about our present situation. His expertise and passion about these topics is evident in his thorough research. My only issue is that the writing can be excessively wordy and repetitive at times. At the end of the book, there is a helpful chapter by chapter summary that highlights important ideas and strategies. The extensive list of resources Harris provides is sure to aide readers wishing to delve deeper into these topics. This is an informative guide for business leaders seeking to strengthen their companies through more socially responsible practices.

Thoroughly informative with guiding principles
Omar L. Harris's The J.E.D.I. Leader's Playbook is a passionate call to action for those working towards a more just and equitable workplace. The book expands on the author's previous work by introducing the concept of "J.E.D.I." leadership, where justice takes center stage alongside diversity, equity, and inclusion.Harris is quite serious and convincing when putting forward his arguments. Harris convincingly argues that focusing solely on DEI without addressing underlying injustices is like putting out a fire after the house has burned down. Adding "J" to the equation emphasizes the need for accountability and enforcement of organizational values.Another thing I liked is this book is more than theoretical guide. The book is backed by statistics and research on progress made (and obstacles encountered) in areas like representation in leadership positions, pay ratios and other working environment. This data adds weight to the author's claims and allows readers to track the larger context of the movement. The book is like a 101 rulebook, quite affirmative and provides comprehensive jagron free practical tools and frameworks for J.E.D.I. leaders, including the "Code J.E.D.I." and guidance on finding your personal "J.E.D.I. why." This actionable approach allows readers to translate the book's message into tangible steps.Knowing how challenging this topic is, Harris maintains a positive tone. He highlights progress made and emphasizes the potential for positive change when J.E.D.I. principles are embraced. The author himself has worked in complex organisations so he is well aware of ABCs of structural and functional methods. The J.E.D.I. Leader's Playbook is a valuable resource for anyone seeking to create a more inclusive and equitable workplace.Harris's passionate and data-driven approach offers a clear framework for action, while his optimistic outlook inspires readers to persevere in the face of challenges. The book is especially relevant for leaders, HR professionals, and anyone committed to social justice within organizations. While some terms might require additional explanation and the focus on the US context could be broadened, the book's strengths outweigh its weaknesses, making it a worthwhile read for anyone interested in driving positive change.

Roadmap for Equality and Action
Throughout history, societies have grappled with inequalities based on various factors. These social divisions often lead to groups and internal conflicts within communities. However, in the modern era of globalization, the call for equality is rising not just in workplaces but also in educational institutions, healthcare systems, and social spaces. This demand for greater fairness and inclusion is rising in the human experience across all facets of life. This shift necessitates strong leadership in organizations, coupled with a clear framework guiding the implementation of fair practices and addressing diverse scenarios. Mr. Omar L. Harris is back with another boss guide, where he talks about making work fair and cool for everyone. The author talks about leaders being like superheroes fighting for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (J.E.D.I.). It's cool because it's not just about saying stuff; it's about doing things to make work awesome for everyone. The parallels drawn between the heroic journey of leaders and classical tales add depth to the discourse, appealing to the literary enthusiast. The nuanced discussions on purposeful cultural shaping and the distinct 'J.E.D.I. Why' serve as thought-provoking motifs, inviting readers to reflect on their leadership narratives. While the book maintains a motivational tone, as expected in self-help literature, the absence of specific case studies or real-world examples leaves room for further academic inquiry. So many theories are explained beautifully using stories and metaphors. For example, the hedgehog concept is used to explain how to gain the clarity that we need to drive our J.E.D.I. initiatives for the long term and link and embed this work into the core principles, priorities, processes, and practices of the organization. This book does not contain any empty talk. This data-driven book equips you with critical thinking skills to analyze complex environmental issues, evaluate conflicting perspectives, and reach well-founded conclusions. It's not just about talking; it's about doing things that make a difference. Want to fight for what's right? This book will show you how.
