GREAT MACHINE
THIS IS A GREAT MACHINE. PERFECT FOR WHAT I NEEDED IT FOR. SLICING SUMMER SAUSAGES EVERY WEEK. THIS MACHINE WAS EASY FOR ME TO USE. I AM DIS-ABLED NO USE OF MY LEFT HAND. I WAS ABLE TO SET UP USE AND TAKE DOWN AND WASH. BLADE WAS VERY EASY TO DIS MOUNT AND REMOUNT. MACHINE IS LIGHT TO CARRY AND MOVE (8 LBS). HEAVY ENOUGH TO STAY IN PLACE WHILE USING THANKS TO RUBBER SUCTION FEET.BEFORE I STRUGGLED WITH MY KNIFE AND SAUSAGE, USUALLY HAD TO WEDGE THE SAUSAGE BETWEEN THE MICROWAVE AND COFFEE MAKER. THIS MACHINE HAS MADE MY LIFE EASIER. PERFORMANCE WAS GREAT. POWER WAS JUST RIGHT FOR MY APLICATION. ONLY REGRET IS I WISH I HAD BOUGHT IT 12 YEARS AGO WHEN I HAD MY STROKE. I WONT BE WITHOUT ONE OF THESE MACHINES. WHEN THIS ONE WEARS OUT I WILL BUY ANOTHER ONE OF THE SAME BRAND. ONE FEATURE I LIKE IS THE TRAY. I PUT A PAPER PLATE ON IT TO CATCH THE SLICES AS THEY COME OFF THE BLADE THEN DUMP THEM IN A CONTAINER WITH A LID ON IT AND STORE IT IN THE REFRIGERATOR AND ALWAYS HAVE A HANDY SNACK ON HAND.

Incredible slicer!
Amazing slicer at an incredible price! I had a previous version of this slicer and it held up under regular use for 15 years (mostly I make jerky and thin-sliced meats for Asian style dishes). So I bought this one as a replacement and it does not disappoint! Easy to use and cleans up nice. Will definitely buy again when this one goes out in another 15+ years!

Good machine with Nice Features
When I purchased this, the color that I ordered was grey. I would never call this color grey, but green. Although the pictures that I posted make it look grey, it is definitely green. I wasn't thrilled with that, but that is strictly cosmetic, so not a big deal there. The blade that comes with this is serrated and it cuts very well. It has plenty of grease on the blade to keep it from squeaking. It is a good idea to purchased a tube of grease to keep it well greased. The food carriage locks into place when you are not using it and that is a nice feature. The power button is at the end and it stays on when you are using it. I do like that feature. Though the description says that it is an easy clean machine, I do not find it as easy to clean as my former slicer that I used before this. Some of the parts come off for easy cleaning, but the food tends to stick down by the lower edge of where the black plastic safety piece by the blade meets the carriage. I am a clean freak, so I try to get every bit of food out and keep my slicer sparkling clean. This was not nearly as easy to clean as I had hoped, so I marked it down for this reason. I sliced some prime rib yesterday and it sliced it perfectly! However, I did have to turn off the slicer every few slices to clean out where the food jams down at the bottom. I like how you can put the plastic tray under the slicer to catch the food as it slices. That is a nice feature. Another thing that I like is that the cord stores hidden inside of the machine. I really like that. The feet are rubberized suction little feet so that it is supposed to stay put while you are using it. But they are not big enough to provide enough suction. It does tend to move around. I would highly recommend purchasing a tube of grease to use with this, and it is nice to have an extra smooth blade as well. I feel like this is a much better machine that my old slicer and the biggest drawbacks are the color and the more time spent cleaning it. But I am pleased with this purchase.

Very Useful and Performs Well
At this price point, this is a very good buy! I have been using it now for about 2 years and so far, havent changed the blade. I have blown 2 fuses over the 2 years - which doesn't seem too bad. I am probably getting to the point where a new blade would be good. It cuts meats and cheeses very accurately down to a pretty thin slice. I have used it on eye of round, turkey, pork loin and summer sausage, as well as smoked gouda cheese. Would recommend it for the casual user.

Surprisingly well made - the slow speed of the blade is deceptive
I bought this solely for slicing meat for Jerky. For years, I've been par freezing meat for jerky and cutting it by hand. I wanted something to give me consistent slices. I took a chance on this. My first thought when I opened the box was, "Wow...this is actually pretty sturdy". Then I plugged it in and turned it on.....It spun at like a mere 45 rpms. And I was confused. There was no speed adjustment. It just sat there whirling, leaving me wondering how the hell it was going to cut through par frozen beef. (you still have to do that with beef on a slicer, unless you want a mess of bits) And to my delight, this thing ripped right through it. It was satisfying. I literally sliced 4 lbs of Top Round London broil in about 5 minutes my first time. As I got used to the slicer and how it works, I was under 2 minutes by my 3rd use. Yes, you have to clean it, which - once you (carefully) remove the blade, takes all of 5 minutes to hose down in the sink. By my calculations, every time I use it, I save an hour just in slicing. I can't tell you what an hour is worth to you, but for me, I made my money back the first time I used it (terribly) because I also ended up with consistent slices, which saved me time in the smoker as well. (more savings) Yes, it's cheap. No - it's not "deli grade" But for the right uses, this thing can't be beat. Totally happy with my purchase.

Meat wraps around the drive gear smothered in lubrication
I bought this meat slicer after arduous long research to make organic jerky treats for my dogs with a dehydrator since pet treats prices have been going up insanely. Initially, the meat slicer seemed to work well but at the end of slicing, I noticed that some meat got stuck between the blade that I had to pull out. When I detached the blade for cleaning, I was horrified to see that the plastic drive gear underneath was wrapped around with raw beef and the meat I pulled out was probably tainted with lubrication that looked like blobs of white shortening. The entire saw base plate was a huge mess with meat fragments and blood combined with the lubrication that's hopefully food safe for the contaminated meat slices but the manual only mentions using Vaseline for plate lubrication and no extra lub was supplied. I used wooden toothpicks to pick out all the meat fragments from the gear slots and checked the reviews to see if anyone else reported the problem with meat getting lodged behind the saw blade. Since nothing came up for meat wrapping on the gear, I tried again with thicker cuts and tried grabbing each meat slice as they were coming out the back through the slice deflector, but some meat still managed to get caught into the blade, again making a mess. I also noticed the edge of the blade support paint was ground down from the back side of the saw blade exposing the base metal from cutting a few pounds of meat that 1st day I received the unit. Whether this particular slicer was a lemon or not, I couldn't imagine keeping it and dealing with the bloody unsanitary mess. I sent it back for a refund that day. I've since resorted to slicing half frozen meat by hand and realized that it is actually much quicker than using a meat slicer including the cleanup, and my dogs absolutely love homemade jerkies.

Actually Better Than I Expected
UPDATE: I just used this to slice some homemade bacon today. I was worried that since bacon is kind of squishy that the slicer might just drag the meat into the blade and make a mess, but WOW. This thing goes through bacon like a laser. My bacon slab was about 2-1/2" thick, too, and the machine didn't even sound like it struggled. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars at this point - I'm thrilled with it, and that's rare for me to say! I've been wanting a slicer for years to make my venison jerky faster more and more uniformly than cutting it by hand with a chef's knife. I really wanted to find a used commercial slicer but even used they're crazy expensive and too big to store. I recently got into making bacon from scratch, curing raw pork belly and smoking it. That kind of amped up my desire for a slicer, but I really never thought these small "home model" units could cut it, so to speak. When Amazon had this on a Deal of the Day with free returns I figured I didn't have anything to lose and gave it a try. At first glance, it looks and feel like a toy. It's light and small, but the carriage runs smoothly and the motor and drive train sounded fine. I had a cooked boneless turkey breast from Costco so I threw that on the carriage and gave it a try. Wow... this thing peeled ribbons off that turkey as fast and I could go back and forth. I was really pretty impressed with how well it worked. It will dial down to almost paper-thin slices. Yep, it's kind of a pain to clean, as is my meat grinder, sausage stuffer, and anything else that contacts raw meat, but I think that's just part of the price of convenience. The biggest drawback in cleaning that I see is that the drive gear for the blade is mounted to the back of the blade and coated in grease, so every time you take the blade off to clean it you have to deal with that. Other wise everything disassembles pretty easily for a soap and hot water cleanup. I'm generally the type that will pay extra and get the very best, but honestly I think for my needs, this little slicer does a bang-up job. It's small enough to store easily but still gets the job done. I'm looking forward to deer season in a few weeks so I can make some more jerky with it.
