Volkswagen Sunshield - 5GM064-366

This is the fourth sun shade I've ever purchased. In the past, I've bought generic sun shades that I picked up at discount stores. This time, I opted for one with the Volkswagen brand on it in celebration of my new-to-me Volkswagen. You know what they say, the fourth time is the charm! Well, I say it anyway. This wasn't any heavier in weight, but the material this is made out of cut the heat significantly more than any of the previous shades I've purchased. This acted almost like an insulator against the heat. It easy to deploy and easy to roll up and, best of all, it fits my car like a glove. I particularly like how, once deployed, it's stiff enough not to fall down on the corners. For me, this is a BIG thumbs up!

Perfect fit on my mk7 gti.

I had a generic, one-size for all sunshade for my 2015 VW GTI and it absolutely sucked. While it covered all of the window, it was thin and would always sage and fall down to the dash. I was going to go to my dealer and pick one of these up, but saw a better deal on Amazon. This sunshade is nice and rigid and made from quality materials. It has a nice Velcro strap to hold it in a roll when not in use. It never falls out of place due to form fitting for my vehicle. If you have a MK7 GTI, I highly recommend you invest in one of these.

I figured this would fit a lot better and tighter to the edges for my mk7 Golf TDI. It fits way better than the universal guys, but still left space to be desired. I can understand if it was for more models, but the few it fits should be close. Maybe I'm being picky, but for an extra $10 I could of went the fully custom ordered route and got one that fit like a glove. Total void space is 1" on each side. So 2" extra width would of made this perfect.Beside that, its a good product. Did not experience the "film" others talked about, but washed it anyways. For the price, its good. As a VW official product not so much.

Perfect for golfs, sturdy

Bought this for my newer 2015 Golf Sportwagen. For the price it does a great job. Does it keep all the heat away from the inside? No, but that’s not what it’s for. It does make a huge difference in interior temperature when parked in the sun.It does leave a small strip down each side that lets light through, but it’s pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Once put in place and putting the sun visors down it easily holds it shape and stays in place. Not sure why people say it’s so hard to roll up. Just pull out the right side first and begin rolling it shiny side out, with the other end still on the dashboard, then secure it with the Velcro strip.

OEM VW shade, for mark 8 Golf but fits older mark 7 golf perfectly. Mark 7 version is no longer made, maybe because the VW logo changed. Only complaint is that the strap is on the driver’s left, not the right where it traditionally is. This makes it harder to grab and roll up, especially if a passenger has already gotten in the front seat. Dumb detail to miss, especially for a German car manufacturer. It’s like some dummkopf decided to standardize on a right hand drive version. Never going to hear the end of it from my wife…

Official VW part. Great quality, comes with a strap (pictured top left of sellers main product image). Assists on keeping it together when not in use. Fits perfectly on the windshield. Living in the south, with black leather seats = a free sauna in your car. This has definitely helped in decreasing cabin temps while car is parked in the sun.
