My carb worked perfect out of the box. 2 minute install. Had to adjust the throttle position a little on the shaft so it could get full throttle. But, the motor runs excellent, and full throttle is now nice and wide open, and it idles nice too. I did go through the whole fuel system prior to installing the carb (cleaned the gas tank which had water and junk, cleaned the fuel line and bulb, as original was all gunked up too, new fuel pump, and ensured it was flowing nice clean fuel). It is pointless to put a new carb on a dirty fuel system, or clogged up lines or bad bulb, as your new carb will be junk in just a few minutes of running, and back to a poor running motor. Go through everything and verify clean easy flowing gas is getting to the carb, and these china carbs work good for me on my yamaha 8 hp 4 stroke.

I recently learned that the only difference between a Yamaha 8 HP engine and a 9.9 HP engine is the carburetor and the propeller.Before changing to this carburetor I could only reach 15 knots. After the carburetor change I was able to reach 16.5 knots. Added the new prop and got to 18.5 knots.I am very pleased with this upgrade.So... 9.9 HP disguised as an 8 HP.😁
