The camera is tiny and you can actually store videos after 24 hours in free subscription.
I did some research before buying this and from previous reviews set this up using the new mydlink app and not the one that was shown in the instructions. Set up was pretty straight forward and connects to wi-if. It works pretty much as it should. Only gripe I have is that the menu system is not the most obviously laid out. Also, in order to get notifications, you had to set up a rule, again, not the most obvious. Video recording is limited to 24 hours but it’s free. For me, this is good enough. For the price, it’s a pretty good little security camera.24/07: bought a second one on Prime Day and managed to get both to work with Amazon Echo. Quite convenient to see the live view on the TV screen. The free cloud recording has been working flawlessly and found nd that you can actually keep videos indefinitely by marking them as favourites!

Great camera once you got it connected
This is actually a great wifi camera which can be really smart once you've got past the niggles off the app.First thing I want address is how you how mount the camera, because nowhere did I see a mount or bracket for it. It looks like the camera just sits on a shelf and looks out horizontally. However, in my box I was pleasantly surprised to have included a mounting bracket which you can angle the camera down or mount it to a wall.I bought the camera at £25, at this price it's excellent value for money as it is very versatile. I use it as baby monitor and have it linked to Google Assistant, more on this later.Camera set up:In my box I got a card with the correct app to use (mydlink) and qr code for scanning in order to connect the camera to WiFi. However I could not get the app to connect to the camera (as other reviewers have experienced), my phone is Android 8 Oreo. I tried many times and almost requested a return. Instead I downloaded the mydlink app to a Fire tablet and did the same connection steps and it connected on the first go! Once I had the camera connected to my dlink account I can view it on my phone but I find that the current app doesn't perform well on my phone. If you have the same problems I did, just try it on another device.Smart home uses:I use it as a baby monitor connected to Google assistant so I can say "show camera on living room TV" (tv has chromecast). In the future I'll use it with Google hub to show the camera on its screen.I have also connected it to IFTT, i can then get it to text me on motion detection or blink a hue light on motion detection.I find motion detection works well and you can set up detection areas and adjust the sensitivity. I find this very accurate as movement outside your trigger area doesn't cause notifications. Using IFTT I get a notification almost instantly that motion was detected.Image quality is good enough for my use, I am happy with it especially at the price I paid. Night vision is better than I expected. The build quality is good enough, it is quite light but looks great and once in place; is very discreet. I think they just need to refine the app to work better with the latest devices.I would recommend this camera. If the app was flawless and the price remained low it would have 5 stars.

Good quality camera
These Dlink cameras are great, small enough that you can place them pretty much anywhere without them taking over a significant amount of space.Upon opening the box you'll find the camera, plug and some instructions. The instructions make little sense due to the correct information being provided. As other reviews have stated it's vital to download the correct app or the simple setup will become a nightmare and bombardment of swear words.Once you've installed the MyDlink app everything is straight forward. It's worth noting that Dlink allows you to have up to 3 cameras on the free storage plan, anything over that you're having to pay £££I had no issues connecting these up to a mesh WiFi system that operates at both 5Ghz and 2.5Ghz so hopefully you'll have no issues either.Using the app once you've configured is easy enough. The top right corner of the app shows a square and cog, tap that and then you should be able to tap a camera to add it to your shortcuts (basically it shows up when you launch the app immediately). Once done on the home screen you can tap a camera and see what's going on in a simple tap.You can configure the camera to come on at different times etc and it all works fine and will happily send you enough notifications that you'll be turning it off soon after. It's worth noting this camera does not have 2 way audio, you can hear them but they can't hear you.If you have an Echo Show or Echo Spot you can enable the MyDlink skill, once activated and logged into your Dlink account you can ask your Alexa to display a given camera. This works great if you've positioned them to show outside locations like the front door, garden etc...Once the skill is enabled you need to scan for the devices in your Alexa app and then add them to any groups you have configured.Image quality is very good even if it's only 720p, you can zoom in but if advise against that unless you enjoy staring at Lego blocks. The night vision works great but if you have the camera pointing at a glass surface you will get light reflection which makes the image difficult to use. So avoid putting behind glass doors or windows for best results.

Beware there is no free option for video clips on this camera
I will NEVER buy another D-Link product againYou buy with the promise of (taken from product description) 'Anytime, anywhere access with free mydlink cloud recording. Enjoy free 24‑hour footage retention, with optional premium cloud storage plans'Today I've been locked out of ANY motion alerts, so my camera now only works as a motion detector!I am absolutely disgusted that D-Link would treat customers like thisThis item is now only good for the bin as it serves no purpose as a security camera unless I subscribe to their cheapest plan at £2.29 a monthAn absolute disgusting con, my camera going in the bin and NEVER will I ever buy from D-Link again
