It is stronger then my initial impression as it is a lightweight aluminum. But once installed it seems stronger than oak. The black powder coat looks great on the white wall in the garage.

I was looking for a sturdy handrail for our hallway so my wife recovering from a stroke could practice standing and walking at home as instructed by her PT folks. We needed a small circular bar as she has trouble holding something large like a wood rail usually mounted in stairways. With already having to do major repairs in our home already, this product seemed more affordable than other handrails more costly. As noted by others, no instructions were provided and I would have never looked for a video online had it not been for comments from others. A set of simple instructions for those not web savvy would have been good even if it pointed to the online video. Also I was only provided 8 wood screws for connecting to the wall studs and it says it should’ve included 16 in total to use 4 screws for each mounting bracket into the stud which seems necessary for holding the weight into the wall. That seems easily rectified by a visit to the local hardware store. This far, the quality seems really good and will hold up but only time will tell.

This is not a super robust kit of stainless steel parts, thick and massive, meant for rugged use. But, all the parts look well put together and sturdy enough for my use, although I wish the brackets were made of steel instead of zinc. The brackets are a little smaller than I expected, and that’s a good thing. This rail will go in a narrow half flight stairway in a very old house and the space is narrow, so having the brackets and rail hugging the wall a good thing. I like that the rail is only 1.6” in diameter. You can really grab it firmly with little chance your hand might slip off if you stumbled like it might with thicker diameter rails. The only downside to a narrower rail is that your fingers may graze the mounting brackets as you slide them up the rail. My only qualm about the rail being aluminum is that it’s not the strongest of metals. If the screws that hold the rail to the bracket strip over time, then it’s hard to repair, although replacing the stock screws with slightly thicker ones would maybe give a new “bite” in the hole. There are alloys of aluminum that are strong, but the product description did not mention anything about the composition of their rail's metal. The decorative ring that covers the bracket’s mounting flange is plastic, but that allows it to flex and pass onto the bracket. It snaps into place on the flange and looks good.

Works like a charm!

Per the parts list we should have received 4 complete mounting brackets and associated screws. We only received 3 mounting brackets [one of the three brackets was damaged, as can be seen in the picture] and screws for only 2 brackets. The box was not opened so the shortage was from the original packaging.So I cannot mount this handrail until I receive the additional hardware.

Super easy to install, solid and I like that the mounts could be placed anywhere. Most others were fixed. The only downside is the plastic wrap that "protects" the rails, well it didn't protect anything.Not a huge deal, just need some superfine sandpaper and a coat of touch-up black to fix the scratches.Overall super pleased...
