Farmer Duck Board book – 14 Mar. 2017

This story book is lovely. First saw it in a child's play area in restaurant, had to buy it as granddaughter loved it.

Excellent present for my 4 year old bilingual niece. Her mum was over the moon so both mumj and dad can read her a story now.

The annimation in this story book are fantastic.I love the duck and the farmer gets what is coming to him in the end. Harry Enfield reads the CD very well. We can listen to the CD in the car and then read the book at night time. How goes the work?

Our daughter’s favourite book from about the age of one! Won’t go to bed now without it being read!

I have loved this book since the first day I read it. Since my family and I live on a farm we have had lots of occasions to ask, "How goes the work?'. The proper answer, of course, is always "QUACK!" It has come to be a multi-generational (4) inside family joke. One of my granddaughters came upon a group of girls diligently studying the Russian language. Without thinking she asked, "How goes the work, girls?" She heard one girl say,"QUACK!" My granddaughter was so excited about that response that she screamed with delight! She said that was the first time anyone who wasn't a member of her family had known the "correct response" to that question. It is a very simple but lifetime-learning book in spite of its few pages. I am buying a copy of the book today for a man in my adult Sunday School class who, when I asked the class, "How goes the work?" was the only one with the right answer. He is going to get the Farmer Duck award.

even two weeks after I read them the story in their second grade class. Kids love it. It has all the entry points for beginning readers, and adults love it too--for similar reasons. I've had university faculty tell me that it's the Communist Manifesto for kids (remember the centrality of labor, organization, and consciousness), that it's a Trotskyist text (note the role of the Duck at the end) and that it's a classic of feminism (note the multiple voices that had to be considered to fashion the uprising). It's a classic, from whatever interpretation, because it's full of joy, resistance, and hope.

My daughter is now in her 20s and still remembers this book well. Her response to the question "how goes the work" continues to be "Quack!" it is a fun book to read with lovely illustrations and kids love to say "QUACK!"

great lesson for kids. land belongs to those who till it. Landlords are scum. Can't wait to share this with my newborn son.

Borrowed this book from the library. My son loved it so much we bought it on amazon for him.

You can't help but feel instant pity for the little duck made to do all the work on the fat farmer's farm. He soldiers on while the chubby farmer monitor's his progress with a "how goes the work?" - a phrase my four year old now knows by heart and cries with a snigger with the turn of every page.The beautiful illustrations carries the Orwellian story of the animal's revolt well, and although the ending is a little far-fetched and rosy-colored, the book it's a wonderful read that has become one of our favorites.

My (now adult) son loved this book. Bought it recently as a gift....

This book is so wonderful. My kids love farmer duck and by the end of the book are ready to throw the farmer off the farm.

I love reading this book to my students. They laugh and love looking at the pictures. I read this book about once a week.
