Skipping rope
I did a lot of research before buying the skipping rope for myself ... this one scored quite high on the things that i was looking for1. The length of the rope is adjustable.. so you don't have to worry about if this is right length for you.2. It Has the counter for number of skips and calories (you have to set your weight to correctly count the calories burnt - its easy to set though).3. I skip in my back Patio and wanted something that will not get stuck... wasnt too sure about the leather ones so went for this one... this works perfectthe only thing i would have preferred is a non slip grip.. but this is a minor thing but if your hands sweat a lot, consider buying something with non slip handlesAll in all a good buy and i am very happy with this..

A great rope.
This is the third skipping rope I've owned in the space of a month. The first was a cheapo from a supermarket that lasted over a year, where I got a maximum of 188 skips in a minute. The second was a bulky boxing rope with weighted handles. It was rubbish and slow (max of 160, which was less than my modal average with the previous rope), so no good for cardiovascular work. The handle also broke after a total of 12 minutes work. Then this Tanita came along. It's brilliant. With a high score of 189, its fast and gets the heart working. I also like the quality of the 'rope'; I'm guessing it will last a long time. The processor for the counter doesn't seem fast enough though; either that or my brain's a bit manky, as the reading is consistently about 5% short of my personal count. I don't bother with the calorie counter, but it is easy to read. After a couple of weeks, I dropped a 20kg weight on the read-out after sit-ups. The plastic cover snashed but the read-out below was well protected and still works perfectly. The mechanism joining the rope to the handle also appears robust.I don't know if I'm just getting better, but I'm hardly tripping with this rope (rope catching the feet after losing co-ordination). I have an 80%+ success rate, whereas the boxing rope was about 50%, with the cheap rope about 75%. It's not perfect though, as I feel I could jump faster but can't quite get the co-ordination. I often find myself slowing a little while I correct the balance. I think that's due to way way the rope is attached and I expect I'll get used to it.If the counter's important and you are fast, then its no good. If you're not going to stray over 140 skips per minute it will probably be accurate. The main point of skipping, though, is to get the heart going by jumping quickly at regular intervals, and for that this is a very good product. Perfect for my needs.

Adjustable and counts your jumps
I've had this for a year and a half. I like it because it is easy to adjust the lengh properly. The counting feature is good to set a goal, e.g. 500 for a short warm up, 1500 for a longer cardio routine. Its possible to to tricks like criss-crosses and doubles. I give 4 not 5 as after a while the rope "snapped" in two (i.e. the plastic snapped but the rope still held together as it has an inner "string" that remained intact), but fortunately the break was not between the handles but in the section from the handle to the end, so it did not impact performance. I think it happened when it was squashed in a bag. Nontheless I am careful now lest it happens again. In the time I've had it I've needed to change battery once. I use it perhaps 3 times a week indoors. If it were to break I'd probably get the same but would also shop around for other models as the price has increased about 50% since I bought mine.

Does the job required
Ok, so I bought this obviously because it has a calorie counter on it. I have used it in total for about 4 hours worth of skipping so far and it still seems to be in good condition. One of the handles seems like it may fall apart soon, but for now it's still working fine. The main problem is the fact that you can't turn it off when you have finished skipping. the LED display is constantly switched on from the moment you set it up. I thought it would go off after a certain amount of time of inactivity, but it does not. Not sure how long the battery will last before it dies. They should offer a way of switching it off without having to take the battery out.

Perfect - Why buy a tread-mill when you can have a skipping rope!
What more could I ask from a skipping rope? I can change the length in accordance to my height, the calorie count keeps me in track with my daily goals alongside the jump counter. This product has given me the motivation I have needed in order to stay fit and build up my stamina. I would highly recommend this product as it is easy to use and is money well spent. I just would have preferred a variety of colours to choose from but hey ho this does the job.

Excellent
I've had 2 skipping ropes in the past and both have snapped in a relatively short period of time. I've had this one now for several weeks and it's still in great condition, I'll see how long it lasts in the long run though. I'm also surprised by how long the battery has lasted, it's been almost 2 months since I've had it and I haven't had to change the battery yet. I also didn't have to change the length at all, as it was already perfect for my height, but it gives easy instructions on how to change the length if necessary. The calorie and jump counters are a bonus and like people have said can be quite the mental boost. I think this is a great skipping rope for people like me who just want to use it general exercise and aren't 'hardcore' skippers.

It is a nicely made skipping rope and comfortable handles
It is a nicely made skipping rope and comfortable handles, I was however really taken back on my loss of 'skill' skipping! I can hardly get my feet off the ground. Therefore haven't bothered with the gadget side until I can regain a bit more activity. A great way to improve fitness.
