Tormented: 8 Years and Back Paperback – Illustrated, December 1, 2004

Eye opening book on the torment of fear. Well written by the author of Psalm 91: God's Umbrella of Protection. The 2 books definitely went hand to hand for me. There is hope for those who suffer silently.

I've been a Christian for a long time but never knew about the concept of "soulishness" and how being too dependent on your "soul" or (intellectual thoughts, analysis, reasoning) can be just as bad as being in the "flesh" (controlled by lusts and appetites of the flesh). Chapters 10 and 11, written by the author's daughter, Angelia Shum, show how to deal with "intellectual" decisions or rationalizations that cause you to make horrible mistakes or be in bondage. She gives examples where King David depended on his conniving, reasonings, and intellect to get himself out of trouble which actually caused even more trouble. We have to love the truth and stop taking liberties, engaging in coverups, or misdirection in gray areas while appearing spiritual [this is what she calls soulishness], and it is very dangerous. All this distinction between the flesh (focused on self), soul (focused on the world), and spirit (focused on God) is very illuminating and if we're not aware of it, we tend to contrast flesh with spirit (not realizing our soul is getting in the way), so that we think we're being spiritual, but we're actually mingling the soul/spirit together and deluding ourselves.This distinction between soulishness and spiritual is so important if we are to be able to walk in the spirit and not the flesh.

For those wanting the 'victorious' Christian walk - - I would say this book is a 'must have', and the best book on deliverance I have read - and I have read several. Down to earth simple analogies make it easily understandable, for both the one starting out and those who have struggled most of their Christian lives with being an 'overcomer', addressing minor fears to major addictions. I thought so highly of this book that I actually ordered a case of them to be able to hand them out.

Wow this book is a life changer. I don’t even know how I came across it; I’m sure I was looking at other books and it came up as a suggestion, but I’m so glad I did. The “exchange system”, a simple but powerful concept, will no doubt bring deliverance to those who will finally make up their mind to believe God’s Word above all intrusive thoughts or situations. Replace those demonic negative thoughts (that then result in bad or depressing feelings) with what God’s Word says. The author says “Answer the enemy with God’s Word”.John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free”.

Yes, I enjoyed the book very much. It really hit home for me. I would recommend this book to everyone!

Amazing testimony and easy to read explanation of true freedom and deliverance for the Christian believer. PJR emphasizes how to maintain deliverance by filling the places that are now cleaned out by pouring in and clinging to the Word of God. Victory is ours!

I am teaching a class on Satan now, and this is a nice accessory to have for class. Very interesting! It makes it easy to see how Satan works in our lives and what we need to do to either recover from the oppression it brings on or to prevent an attack in the first place. I recommend it!
