A new queen author on the loose!!
The Cursed Otherworld has blown me away!! All the twists, turns, laughs, and gushing I always hope for when I start a book. Now I'm finishing this one, I can't wait to start the next! Character and plot building at its very finest! I am so looking forward to Cursed Fae, and grateful that Tru's story is getting a proper shake! I hope for many more volumes to this fantastic (yet believable) Otherworld! I haven't been sucked into a world like this one in a minute, and I am savoring every paragraph! I absolutely love the connections of the other characters stories. Every one of them is so delectable! Getting to revisit them, and feel like you're in on all the goss without the tea getting spilled (haha UK joke) is just brilliant. Keep them coming, Brogan Thomas!!! I also love the subtle nods to the great modern stories (cough cough, Dexter, cough cough Demon Blade) I love it.

Massive imagination!
The story occasionally gets kind of lost. I thought originally that I would not finish it. Then I realized I was hooked on the characters, the world they live in, the humor, the story. It became one of the books you don't want to put down until the end. I love Suzanne Wright, Lindsay Sands, Michael Anderle,Ilona Andrews, and the fascinating worlds of sci-fi and fantasy. This may become one of my favorite worlds. If you enjoy caring, humorous, kickass heroes, this may be a series for you, too. I can't wait to read more from this author. Have fun.

Spoilers: Wish some parts were done differently
3.5 stars.First off, I did enjoy reading this. Tru is a badass MC who is resilient, smart, independent, and manages to keep her head on straight even around the guys she likes. Yet she's also vulnerable and very much human in her weaknesses.SPOILERS:I read this after Cursed Vampire and was not expecting the ML to change. Granted, Xander was still pretty much a typical alphahole in Cursed Vampire, but instead of building up the relationship in this book, it is torn down right at the start. Surprising, and a little disappointing I must admit. But then he really was a condescending guy who has to have his way in the prequel. I just expected him to be smarter, at least, given that Tru and he kinda know each other for 9 yrs. And then there is that weird vision of Tru's - it feels like it was scrapped as an idea entirely when the main characters changed in this book. But then, I remember going through something similar myself and having a 15yr old friendship torn apart, and finally realising the person I regarded as a friend had always thought of me in the worst way. So I guess if the author is going for the angle that relationships don't always work out the way you want especially when young, it adds up. But it still feels a bit farfetched, as after 9 yrs, you'd think that you would at least know the other person enough to not believe something so drastic as them being a serial killer. But trust is so easy to tear apart, especially when it was never built up in the first place.Moving on, I like Kleric a lot. I like him leagues better than Xander. However, my biggest gripe was the mate thing came out of nowhere. It would have been interesting to have some hints or a leadup or have Kleric vaguely appear in Cursed Vampire so it doesn't feel like a bomb was just dropped to speed up the relationship and give a good excuse to properly end the other side of things. I feel like the relationship was a bit of a fast burn. And Xander was dumbed down further than usual to make him even more unlikeable. When the MC started to doubt Kleric, I feel like there was a wasted opportunity for another plot twist and MC could have walked away without any romantic interest at all, cause it doesn't make much sense for him to like her so fast and the mate thing just makes it too easy.Lastly, there's the introduction of new friends of Tru's that we've never met in the prequel. I wish we would have known them earlier in the book, so that the reunion with Tru would feel more impactful. The only characters I remember are Story and Dexter, and also Justin. These are the nitpicks I have that prevented me from giving this 5 stars.Nitpicks aside, Tru carried the story on her shoulders and was amazing to read. I also did not see the plot twist coming at the end. For a new series by a new author, it's honestly well done. If not for the main gripe that I have, I would give it 5 stars. The rest of the plot was exciting and kept me on my seat, and Tru's emotional and mental struggles were also well done, including her inner strength in picking herself up and bending, not breaking.

Exceptional Read
I seldom read a book from start to finish in one sitting but I did this one. I found the plot to be stimulating and convoluted enough to maintain my interest. The characters were smart, quick and endearing. I like a little sass in my characters and this book there was plenty.I cannot wait to the next book.Bravo and thank you.

Great start to a powerful new series
Ms. Thomas seems to be hitting her stride with this new series. The Cursed series set up the foundation of the world, and now the Rebel series seems to be taking those original stories and running with them.Rebel Unicorn was a fantastic and satisfying second chapter for Tru, the vampire-unicorn hybrid. No longer a teenager, Tru has become an assassin. Her life come crashing down when she raids a seemingly abandoned warehouse to rescue a group of children from an illegal blood trading ring. The worst part is her golden angel, Xander, accuses her of harming another angel. Can she survive the torture of a prison where everything is white and designed to drive her out of her mind? A prison where she is kept from tapping into the magic of both her vampire and unicorn natures. She doesn’t know who to trust as she uncovers a conspiracy that has its roots deep in the supernatural community. With special guest appearances by Forrest, Mr. Brown, and a few other characters we’ve come to know and love from this world.I think what I loved best, besides the satisfying story itself (and a good whodunit that I wasn’t able to figure out, bravo), was how comfortable the characters and the world are together. Nothing seemed to happen or be said that seemed out of character. The editing was also top notch, as there weren’t any weirdly awkward transitions from one part of the story to another. I really think it’s just going to continue getting better from here.

Love this series!
This might just be my favourite Brogan Thomas yet! It’s the first in a duology, but it actually follows the “Cursed Vampire” book in the Creatures of the Otherworld series. This book starts off about 9 years after the events of Cursed Vampire. Tru is a secret assassin working for the Hunters Guild, and she’s got a tricky case and ends up getting framed for a truly heinous crime. She’s absolutely heartbroken when the love of her life–-who rarely gives her the time of day–turns on her and believes her to be a monster. The angst in this book is sublime, and I absolutely ADORE her (new!) love interest. I love the irony of the fact that the angel is a heartless jerk and the demon treats her like a Queen. This book doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, but I’ll be reading the next in the duology immediately, regardless!

Thrilling book
I love this book and I am glad I only started it after the next book in the series was already available, because I definitely wanted to follow up and get a conclusion. The book doesn't end with a cliffhanger per se, but for sure I wanted to know what happens next.I would recommend to first read Tru's book in the author's first series, but it's not absolutely necessary, but i enjoyed both very much!

Exceptional
Exceptional read. We met Tru in her prequel Cursed Vampire but she was a teenager finding her place in the world, here is Rebel Vampire is a strong woman who knows her place in this world. The story has many twist and turns that keep you reading. It's a page turner.I'm so looking forward to read more. Highly recommend it 😉

I want more!
What a book. And what a plottwist. Very well executed. I cried when Tru got her bond broken and tortured for the fun of it. No excuse for the avenging angel, he got her addicted to his blood, treated her as a pitycase and didn't trust her? What a nutcase! Especially at the end, hah he gets what he deserves. But now I want more of Tru and her mate. While I had some troubles with the flow of the story in cursed vampire, it was gone now. Well written, enough action and betrayal with a touch of romance. When you like urban fantasy with a kick ass heroine and enough trouble to get mistaken once in a while for a terrorist, read this book. It has fun, drama and heartwrenching periods with enough gore and death to get you reading the book in one go. Love the adopted familymembers, sometimes you have to hold on to something good.
