Good controller; straightforward to use - even for non-experts
Based on the reviews, I was concerned that I would have trouble programming the unit. That was not a problem.I use a number of older X-10 relays to control landscape lights and pumps around the property. Upgrading to Insteon would be a significant issue as the relays are larger than the older ones so I'd have to refit new electrical boxes, etc.So far, this unit has be easy to work with. As I want the pumps to run differently under different conditions, I've been able to use the backup utility to save a group of settings, then pull in a different set for a different situation. (For example, I have the pumps run the same for Spring, Fall and most of the Winter. A special setting for freezing weather. Also a special setting during excessive heat.) But I've been able to save those and read them back in as needed.Have ordered a second controller for another area of the property.

Great quality product and customer service/support.
Upgraded from ISY99i that did the job day in and day out for about 8 years. Stills works great, but I wanted to add some new Insteon devices.ISY and Universal Devices have great support and a tradition of regular updates. A niche product, but the best on the market in my opinion. I consider it a bargain for what it does and the customer service and support that comes with it. Note that support and service are not necessary because product is in any way malfunctioning. Rather, because it is a technical product that can be customized in infinite ways, the support simply enhances the functionality of the automation the ISY brings.

Needs more updating in my view
I replaced the 99i pro with the new 994i pro, because the 99i was no longer supported. There is a difference in that the 994i requires a device to be part of a scene or as a responder in order for the program cycles will sample the status of a device. Certainly more programming required with this newer version.

Sweet little home automation controller
Compact unit. Good layout. Definitely use the ISY wiki for product info. Some of the other info is outdated or not relevant. Used it to link my Insteon smoke detectors to let me know when there are problems. New to the whole Scene creation for home automation. Took a few tries to link the lights and motion sensors.

The controller provides the versatility I was looking for, and the tech support is exceptional. There is a learning curve, but worth it as the capability is there.

Just bought this ISY 994i pro, to replace my old ISY 99ir pro, and it is as amazing as the old one was, with more compatibilitye
I consider the ISY, the most economic, reliable, powerful, versatile home automation brain I know.I use this with a large Insteon installation.
