Devdutt Pattanaik’s findings are neither scholarly nor intellectually sound. ...
Devdutt Pattanaik’s findings are neither scholarly nor intellectually sound. You can understand that from his opinionated, unbalanced ramblings. He deliberately skips Adhyatmikta (spirituality) and Dharmic point of view in this book. He intentionally calls our Itihasa (true according to scientific and archaeological discoveries) as myth. He gets all his ideas mentioned in this book and other books from Hinduphobic Wendy Doniger. There was a criminal case where Penguin (publisher of her book) chose to enter into an out-of-court settlement to avoid imprisonment for Doniger and the publishers for publishing grossly wrong and damaging pulp-fiction regarding Hindu tradition.

I regret buying the book
I first read the author on speaking tree website and was curious to read the book. Turned out, it's half baked information written with the only intention of making money. I can't understand why, books of 2 other major religions are considered true and all Indian ancient books are referred to as 'mythical'. Is pleasing others at our own cost so important?

A knowledge Repository
Absolutely loved it. I used to watch the show on Epic but due to work schedule couldn't do so regularly. Now that I have this I can read it at my convince anytime. I am a very big fan of Devdutt Pattanaik. He is absolutely amazing when it come to Mythology. It is one this to know the subject and another thing to explain it to the masses in the simplest way and Devdutt Sir does that with easy. I have read few books of his. My favourite being Jaya. I loved reading this book as well. It is very interesting to read our Mythology and make sense of the stories and relate it to our lives. The how and why of our stories that were written so many years ago play such important part of our culture. Thank you Devdutt Sir so narrating and explaining these beautiful tales to us.

No grounds, facts remain challenged, end of the day,he's a businessman
I think Dev is no more than a businessman. He is just trying to sell his book.Have no confusion...he is not a sanatan dharma enthusiast. I highly doubt some of the theories though he doesn't forget to mention very cleverly that they can differ. If you want to know sanatan dharma, refrain from such people. Better spend some more time on our holy books. You'll get them eventually, but don't rely on these people. Though some chapters are good, but it doesn't seem anywhere that he respects Hinduism or he takes pride in being a part of the same.

The best mythology writer.
Devdutt is one of the finest writers of mythology. He and Amish is taking mythology writing to an another level.People like reading mythology these days. Our cultural heritage should be admired and shown like he did.Brainwashed republic was a good effort though devdutt is doing much better.

I was worng, Mr Devdutt is a liar.
The Writer does not possess any knowledge and wisdom. This is his fiction, which he faked as a Mythology. He does not have any intellectual knowledge in Sanskrit nor Vedas. His Sources were WHITE supremacist who wrote endless propaganda by defaming Hinduism. And the writer does not have any Guts to counter his fake narrative whoever point out his hypocrisy.
