Adele Live At The Royal Albert Hall [Blu-ray] [2011]

Yup, here she is - LIVE!
I instantly fell in love with her voice when I heard 21 so I ordered this item while it was in post-production, knowing she can't release a bad live album. At first I listened to a CD in my car and on my iPhone and I was again amazed by her voice, although the whole album sounded almost like studio version (which is actually not bad!). The musicians are great and some new arrangements refreshed known songs in a good way. But, since I have listened to some of her bootleg live shows, I knew there was something missing... Her comments :)So I decided to watch the concert to see whether they have cut her song intros from the film or not. Guess what? Here they are - all her comments and songs intros are here, giving us full view to Adele as an artist and to Adele as an ordinary young girl who wants to stay in touch with herself and who probably wants to show us who she really is. Now I know why they are missing on a CD version - because it should be a double CD version! :)I know that many of you can't stand hear her swearing, cursing, not talking posh (because that's what Royal Albert Hall deserves, yada, yada), but that's Adele in full package! I know you have your version of "Someone Like You" background, but you'll get much clearer picture once you hear her intro to that song :) Believe me, Adele without her comments is totally different performer. And let's face it: there are performers who are "silent" with their audience (I adore David Gilmour, but in all venues including RAH you'll get "Thank you very much indeed" from him), and there are performers who tries to "get" you in the next song even before they start to sing, by talking about their lives, emotions, etc. Please Adele, don't ever stop introducing your songs the way you are doing it now, although you said you're doing it because you don't have enough material to fill the 2-hrs concert. The Blu-Ray package is good, with a nice photo book. My only surprise is the extremely-wide video format that I usually see at Hollywood blickbusters, while 99% of concerts are in standard 16:9 format. Well, this one isn't, and I must say I don't see a reason for that. I've seen many RAH concerts, they were all in 16:9 and they covered the whole stage properly. After all, RAH is one rounded venue, not a stadium.Still, this package deserves an A.

Extremely enjoyable
21 is probably my favourite CD of the past couple of years; I play it whenever I am out and about in the car. Thus I purchased this blu-ray disk with very high expectations of an excellent concert and I wasn't let down.Adele has a hauntingly beautiful voice and to hear her sing live during this concert was a real treat. She didn't need any gimmicks or voice syncing - every single song she was note and pitch perfect. She sang a wide selection of songs from both of her albums, 19 and 21 and it was fantastic to hear her talk about her inspiration behind many of the songs. I've always loved 'turning tables' but I had never really thought about what the phrase meant until she explained how she came up with the idea. What I really loved was to witness the emotion that Adele so genuinely feels when she sings her songs. These really are songs from her heart and you can just see the depth of emotion on her face and hear it in her voice. I defy anyone not to be moved to tears by her performance of 'someone like you'.I have never heard Adele talk before; I guess I have always missed her interviews on TV. I was surprised at just how funny and down-to-earth she is as a person and I can imagine she is a real hoot to be around. On the flip side I was a little taken aback by her language. I'm not a prude by any means but I do think there is a time and a place for bad language. Some of the things she came out with just didn't feel quite right when there was a mixed audience containing youngsters. It also seemed completely out of place in a setting as prestigious as the Royal Albert Hall.Overall, this was a wonderful concert; Adele sang to perfection and I thoroughly enjoyed watching every minute of it. I'm so glad I purchased the blu-ray as it means I can look at it again in the near future. However, if you are planning to watch this with young children please be aware that there is a lot of language during the speeches that is unsuitable for them.

Adele - Live at the Royal Albert Hall
A great deal with not only a fine Blu-ray DVD but music CD as well of the same live show. Both discs are excellent quality and very good versions of Adele's songs and beautiful covers of other groups work.Adele is a wonderful singer a powerful voice with such control and full of emotion and sensitivity, so young but so talented as well. She does a touching tribute to Amy Winehouse who is sadly missed, a brilliant young singer like Adele.Rented this from Lovefilm then had to buy the disc for my collection.Only downside, why does Adele have to to include so many swear words when talking to the audience? Her singing is swearing free and top rate! Just a brilliant singer, someone so unique no one else come anywhere close! Highly recommended to buy.

Great show and worthwhile purchase
Really enjoyed this performance. Like others have said, the video quality is not the best for an HD transfer and was the only thing that spoilt an otherwise great viewing experience. The DTS-HD Master soundtrack is great if the have the supporting equipment to decode it. Having said this the people who produced the Blu ray disc and cover need to catch a wake up as the back cover only states that it has a Dolby digital soundtrack which it does not have. It makes no mention that it had a DTS-HD Master track. Bad oversight to sound geeks like me.A must buy!!!

Superb Blu-ray sound
The sound in DTS-HD Master is amazing - if you have the system to play it. Yes she comments and swears between the songs, but that is Adele's personality. It is the complete recording of the concert and perhaps wouldn't be the same without her stories behind the songs. I don't swear, I'm not worried by her language but Amazon should state parental advisory. It comes with a CD which just has the songs and no chat so play that instead but you lose sound quality from compression, great for the car though. If you like Adele and are not fed up by now you will love this.
