Word of warning - not the UK cut. Buyer beware!
Do NOT buy this, unless you're looking for an incomplete movie. It's turns out this is the *US cut* of the film, and it's shorter running time appears to have been achieved by simply chopping the last 10 - 15 minutes of the original film. So, there I was, enjoying Breaking Glass when suddenly - and most unexpectedly - the credits start to roll. Incredibly annoying! I'd not seen this film for more than 30 years, and was really hoping it was as good as I'd remembered, but what a disappointment.Had I known this was the shorter US cut I would never have bought it. Sure the info says it's a US import, but not the US *cut*. This should be made clear in the advertising. I feel like this was a total waste of money.

Brilliant British Movie
A brilliant British Indie move that brings back the grittiness of 1980 London and exposes the hypocrisy of the music industry. Make sure you buy the 2012 digitally remastered uncut British version to ensure you get the original ending, not the USA chopped version. Also this will give you a fascinating interview with Hazel O'Connor herself. It is worth the price. Don't overlook the soundtrack album also to fully enjoy Hazel's powerful voice and that amazing raw saxophone playing. Great memories and a great insight into the time.

Seminal Film packaged up with some unexpected delights
I've loved the soundtrack for this film for years and loved the film itself, but haven't seen it for years, so decided to buy this. All I wanted was the film (uncut) but I got that and so much more. Stupidly, I didn't read what I was buying and so only expected the film but received a couple of booklets and several postcards to boot. This is the uncut Britissh version and the film holds up. Definitely worth getting.

Nostalgia +++++
I loved re-watching this. I first saw it shortly after release having seen Hazel O'Connor live as support for the stranglers back in 1980. Obviously I purchased the album immediately upon release and I must admit that I love every single track!This film takes me back to my early twenties and also reminds me of how bleak the city-scapes were in those days.

Loved it Then Love it Now
I remeber going to see this in my local cinema when I was at school. I thought the film was so good then but it was along time ago and my I have often wondered if the film was as good as I rememered it from 30 odd years ago (thats a frighting thought!). Well I was not dissapointed the Plot holds up well and Hazels songs are also as good today as they were then. The Dvd comes with an info booklet and a copy of the promo material at the time. Its a great film and deals with a lot of the social problems from the late seventies. I actually think being older now helped me to enjoy the film more this time then I did when I was 13/14 years old. This is also the uncut British version with the real ending not the hashed up ending that was shown in the USA.The picture and sound quality of the DVD are fine as well.

Still very current, should be re-released
I was at the Coventry held Premier of this film and sat next to Hazel on the aisle steps drinking champagne, so I am biased. Still years later, I love this film a story still relevant today with fame and stardom, comes the pressures and loneliness. Fantastic songs and great performance by Hazel O'Connor and Phil Daniels

Step back into the '80s and the music business that's probably not changed that much.
I've not seen this film for many years but happened to be talking about the '80s and Hazel O'Conners name came up, so I had to buy the film and it did not disappoint. Have a listen to the soundtrack and then get the film so it all fits together. But don't buy the American version that appears for some unknown reason, to be missing the last 10 minutes.Hazel O'Conner wrote the music, Phil Daniels had just made Quadrophenia and you'll see lots of other well known British actors you know pop up.Interesting fact, Dodi Fayed was a producer on the film.
