Highest Quality Fonio
I give fonio to my husband that has diabetes and is a str six time stroke survivor. This is the highes quality and best tasting that I have ever purchased. It is fluffy when cooked and very clean. Please keep it in stock. I only want this brand from henceforth

Contains gritty sand--buyer beware!
Despite it's high price, I was excited to try fonio because of its high protein content and quick cooking time. It turned out to be tasty in a bland-enough way that it can be used in either sweet or savory dishes. I followed the cooking directions on the package and found it unpleasantly gritty. At first, I thought it was due to some uncooked granules...It was only after after eating it several times, and finally doing some online research, that I discovered I had been ingesting sand with each bowl full! I hate to think of the damage this has done to my tooth enamel. The problem for new customers is that the package doesn't indicate that fonio NEEDS to be washed (its an elaborate and very time-consuming process--see videos on YT.) I've tried several times since to do this process to get the sand out and have decided that it is all too much work, and I will have to go back to eating teff--even though I like fonio's flavor better This company is doing a disservice to it's customers by not informing them of proper procedures that will spare customers damage to their teeth.BTW, I did purchase another brand (the one with the map of Africa on the package) because it was purported to be pre-washed and clean and it was actually worse!

Really reminds me of Cream of wheat
I really liked it a lot especially avoiding gluten which many people today are doing, but for me with diabetes it spiked my blood sugar over 260 so it's not something I would recommend to people with diabetes.

Package had grains all over outside.
Fonio grain is very expensive and this one had little grains on the outside of the bag. It appeared sealed. Will buy the S So Pure brand next time.

To each his own
The media could not be loaded. I bought this to use as a substitute for rice, but I can't. It doesn't expand to a bigger size when cooked only gets softer. I tried it as porridge because it has a nutty smell, cant tolerte tht either, taste is bland though. I'll only use it smoothies now.

Nice addition to my grains repertoire
These were very tasty and serve as a good substitute for couscous or quinoa. I liked the chewiness of them and didn't have any issues with grit or sand that others have mentioned. The bag came well sealed, and overall, it was a positive experience.

Never had Fonio before
I've never had fonio before so this was my first time trying it. I will absolutely be adding it to my pantry.I really like quinoa and cous cous and this reminds me of both, but it's still a unique taste. Kind of on the nutty side (which I love). I made a pilaf with this, cashews, chickpeas and seasonings and it was delicious. I'm a big fan of one pot meals and this worked beautifully!!
