It works really well and what great crema!
However, it takes a lot of effort pumping, and is s bit hard on my thumbs, so i turn it a bit and use my palms and heels of my hands to push the plunger in; Not a deal-breaker, though, becaus it is fantastic espresso! What a treat to know I can take this with me, and as long as I can microwave or stove boil water, that I am guaranteed a great cup of coffee! I have drunk a shot with sugar and heavy cream, which I love! I’ve also used the shot(s) to make mixed espresso drinks, both hot AND cold! Total yumminess! I definitely recommend this portable espresso maker. I purchased the separate Simpresso pod accessory that allows you to not use grounds. It makes the whole process easier to clean! Even though it’s not the best environmental choice, I like the convenience of them. I also purchased the “lungo” accessory, but have not used it yet. It allows you to make a larger shot. You can buy “lungo” pods at most stores… I love the selection at the local Target store!! If uou are even researching hthis item, then you definitely need this espresso maker, so don’t hesitate! This is by far the best one I have used!

Some unnecessary stuff included but overall a good addition
"BARISTA KIT": I think it is worth it, although you get a little bit more than you would really need. You get THREE "filter baskets" (2x 16g and 1x 8g) which allows you to "preload" the coffee to make them one after the other. Frankly, that leaves you with FOUR baskets if you include the one that already came with the Nanopress, which at that point, is unnecessary. They could have left out the extra 8oz IMHO, reducing cost a little bit. The included tamper is nice and much easier to use than the coffee scoop included with the Nanopresso. For traveling, you can easily fit both large coffee filters into the unit, as well as the tamper. You can't fit the coffee scoop in, however, with some "fiddling" you can fit the cleaning brush in, which is important.IMHO, the "Barista Kit" is worth buying as it allows you to make more coffee quickly. It also allows more variation in the strength of the coffee, since you have the larger coffee baskets and you can put a little less coffee in the water tank if you prefer a a stronger brew if you like but still have plenty of brew in your cup! (With the smaller water tank, your adjustment options are more limited.) (We found filling up the water tank to capacity produced a slightly weaker brew than we prefer, so the option to use a little less water but still have plenty of coffee was preferred.)There had been some comments in a review or two about "oh, my coffee isn't as hot when I use the larger water tank..." What?? Really?? "Cooled down coffee?" How long does it take you to pump a few extra pumps for a larger cup? Are you using lukewarm tap water and then waiting a half an hour before drinking??? I found no such issue with "cooler coffee." And if you're using just-boiled water, you better be careful that it does sit a bit so you don't burn yourself. No, no issue with "cooler coffee."Finally, including here a review on the "Wacaco Nanopresso Case, Protective Case for Nanopresso"... This I don't rate so highly. It is a very tight fit for the Nanopress, regardless of whether you have the basic unit or the "Barista kit extension tube." Both units will fit length-wise into the case, but the height (diameter) of the unit (which doesn't change) makes it a very tight fit. While there is an outdent to accommodate the unit's pump handle bulge, you can't fit anything else in the container, such as the very small but very necessary filter brush. As long as there already is a bulge in the case, there really should be a small compartment to put that kind of accessory in. In that, I'll ding it 1 star. What are you going to do with the brush, besides loose it? Better yet, instead of a compartment, just making the case as little as an inch longer would accommodate the brush and maybe another accessory or two, and certainly wouldn't increase the size much at all.

Watch your settings
I am currently using the Nanopresso as a temporary replacement while my home machine makes it's way through the repair process. I take two double lattes to work twice a day, and the one single shot filter basket a complete pain. The barista kit is just the thing I needed, love that they sent two double shot filter baskets and a serviceable little plastic tamper. That said, I use a very fine espresso grind with my home machine and the same grind worked with the single shot basket. With the double baskets, I had to grind a little courser (still an espresso grind) and go a little easier on the tamping. With these settings, I'm still getting a great latte and once I got everything dialed in, the barista kit cut my makeshift latte making time from 22 minutes to 15 minutes.

A Must Have For Nanopresso
This kit is amazing. I was surprised by how many parts it has! All parts are functional! Amazing design! Perfect accessory to bring with your Nanopresso during travels.

Love the double shot, but durability a problem.
We have the Nanopress with the Barista Kit and absolutely LOVE it! We had a problem with the Barista Kit - the extra sleeve to size for the double cups broke after a month of constant use. We contacted the company and they were going to send us a replacement, but we're in Mexico with no address to send it to, so it'll have to wait for us to get home. Still, it was a positive experience with the company backing their product. We ended up ordering a second Barista kit and had a friend bring it down to us so we're hoping it holds up! We would give this 5 stars and if the second one holds up, we probably will update it, but for now - just 4 stars.

Perfect portable coffee fix
If you like espressos and need that fix in the mornings wherever you are, then nanopresso is probably for you.The espresso you get is probably not as great as the one you could make on an industrial grade machine, however in my experience the taste and quality depend a lot on your grind and tamping. So I've been able to produce some really decent tasting espressos with the nanopresso. The clear reason for getting this is portability! I keep it in my bag so wherever I go, if I can find some coffee beans I can make an espresso. (I also have a cheap $15 grinder I found on Amazon that's very portable). All you need is a bit of hot water and you can start making espresso!I bought the barista kit also, it's a great addition because it's super compact and I enjoy the coffee I can make using the double filter basket slightly more than the single basket. Minor thing, but it does make a difference.I take the nanopresso out with me on camping and hiking trips and theres really nothing else like having an espresso in while taking in some beautiful scenery. It's also super easy to clean, I usually just wipe it down outdoors, then rinse it and let it air dry when I'm home.Thumbs up from me!
